I have this great hat...

...and it makes me wish that I actually was sure about having a bachelorette party. The whole problem is that I'm still fairly new to the Bay area, and most of my close friends are scattered in other cities, so it's not terribly realistic to have one. A group of us will probably get together in April in Los Angeles for a friend's birthday, but I don't feel right tacking on my party to her special weekend.
But, we got into a discussion about what I would want if we were somehow (magically) able to make a bachelorette party happen... it all started with this hat:

The hat was made by by super-talented former roommate, who also is a fashion designer, burlesque performer, and an all around multi-talented and socially savvy woman. If anyone is interested, she does make and sell her tiny hats in many colors and with lots of different styles-- she can be contacted through Myspace, stage name Rose Pistola: http://www.myspace.com/pistolarose
Anyway, if I was to have a bachelorette party, I decided that I would want to have a special burlesque lesson taught to all of the girls. I'm on the e-mail list for Bombshell Betty's Burlesquercise classes (http://www.bombshellbetty.net/burlesquercise.html) , but I just can't ever seem to make them. So instead, I'd set it up so we could have a private group lesson... really have fun with that first... and then we would have to go out afterwards, with newly encouraged alter egos and a few great moves.
If we needed to loosen up before the lesson, we could start with a nice sophisticated whiskey at one of my favorite whiskey bars, Nihon: http://www.nihon-sf.com/ ...and then we'd have to find someplace with silly over the top drinks and then we'd have to go dancing until the wee hours of the night.
Alternatively, we'd go see live music and go have ourselves a wild rock star like night and eat at the donut shop on Polk at 1 am when the fresh donuts are made or get some post-bar comfort food at Naan n Curry in the tenderloin.
...all of those things sound so good to me right now.... I think maybe I'll go see if anything good's going on outside...
