the sweetest thing...

Some people get stuck on a site, others on decor or music.. our sticking point is food. Everything from the catering to the sweet dessert finish at the end. We are lucky in that a close family friend has offered to help with the financial aspect of a cake/sweet treat purchase, but despite that generous gift, we can't seem to make any decisions...
First, I should preface this by the fact that we're oddballs... we keep veering off away from traditional options at every turn. If I had my way, I'd be able to serve VooDoo Donughts, from Portland, OR (www.voodoodoughnut.com), but they aren't shippable.

My choices would be the famous voodoo doll type (with rasberry filling) and the vanilla mango tang (mmmmmmm!) flavor.
Aside from that option, we've been debating something that jives with one of our heritages. I have French and Scandinavian roots (among other things) which would lend themselves to either a croquembouche

or this, a Kransekage:

For the croquembouche, we thought we might even use Beard Papa cream puffs (www.beardpapasf.com/ ), alternating vanilla and green tea flavors:

(how appropriate-- a Japanese company making french desserts! Perfect as a fusion concept!)
Since the FI is Japanese, we were also considering something like mochi from Benkyodo (www.benkyodocompany.com/):

..or a red bean paste dessert as a way of accomodating all of our many friends who like things less sweet (this is Chinese- a moon cake- but there is something similar that is a flatter Japanese dessert which also contains bean paste):

The fiance thought it would be cool if we served everyone individual desserts, which would mean something like this from Petite Patisserie (http://www.petitepatisserie.com/wcPix2.html):

*sigh*
Too many options! (But I think the tastings will be fun!) My current thought is probably the last choice, but the cream puff tower is sooooo tempting!
