So, before I get to the latest craftiness, I'll start with my recent fun. I just turned 31 last week, and besides being surprised by my fiance and a good friend, I also received the best headband ever. Witness the candy-striped awesomeness-- this is my new favorite accessory, along with the red bead necklace that matches...

We're now in the 6-month-ish range for wedding planning, and I realize that I haven't been quite as diligent in the finance department over the past 6 weeks. I was great before Christmas, but I've fallen off the wagon. So... I've been brainstorming over cutting my daily expenses. The first thing they suggest is to cut out the daily coffee shop trip... but the lack of quality caffeine would do me in each day. We were at Daiso, which is like a Japanese five and dime, a few weeks ago and I came up with a great solution... I'll make my own coffee at work. No, I'm not hauling a french press or a big coffee pot... but what about this...
1. Grind up your beans at home and put them in a neat traveling container:

2. Pack your coffee making accessories

3. Use the hot water at work (free) and enjoy!

OK, so now to the DIY flower girl projects. For the FGs, I have a lot of small items.. I wanted to make them a special flower girl necklance, but I also have these things: a pink heart shaped plastic ring, a little heart jewelry case (w/ earrings and necklace), a shiny silvery pen, a little teeny notepad, a pink bandana, and a small charm that says "smooch".

As you can tell, a few of these were post-Valentines Day finds. The flower girl necklaces were DIY.
I found these oversize cheap earrings on sale for $1.00 at the shop down the street (similar to shops like Claire's). They were a bit much for earrings, but I removed the charms, bought pink ribbon to loop through and made them into special flower girl necklaces-- total cost= $.87 each:

Next, I decided to make little trinket bags using this book my roommate has.. I followed the directions to cut two squares of fabric, sew them together and turn them right side out:

You then fold each corner in partially and sew (leaving a channel for ribbon).. (ignore my keychain which is holding the folds before I did the sewing):

You fold back each tip, sew it, loop two ribbons through (one ribbon through two of the corners), and tie together. Here are the finished pics:
