Stacks

We're having an assortment of cream puffs, in lieu of cake, for our wedding dessert, and I'd like to create some funky stacked "cake" to display them on. I've started playing with an idea that will be a work in progress.
1. My first step was to order nesting paper mache boxes. I was picky, so I ordered particular square ones (5 total) but I could have picked them up, also.
2. I decided to play with possible arrangements for boxes and lids to get an idea of how to wrap them to make cake stands. This is my favorite so far (I'm also making my friend a obnoxious 30th birthday present, which explainsthe half naked cowboy fabric underneath):

3. Using this as an idea, I've worked on a couple of boxes, which I plan to wrap with alternating paper: 2 colors of book cloth (navy or hunter green) and at least 1 of 2 coordinating papers (that match the invites).

4. I'm not finished (I ran out of adhesive) but this is where I've ended up with this as of today:

I'll post once this is finished. I also need to finish my pew decor project, but I just didn't get to it this weekend!
Other events of significance this week (for wedding purposes):
1) We just got the space ray gun cufflinks and they are exactly what they looked like on the website. Despite my concerns over purchasing something from overseas (the etsy seller is located in Dubai) and the lengthy shipping time, these are fantastic and the seller (beaujangles) was extremely friendly, an excellent communicator and great to do business with-- Recommended!
2) I don't know that I've posted before, but I also now have my reception dress fabric-- I'm stoked! This is the fabric + pattern. The fabric has a texture similar to textured silk (although it's a cotton)--and the dress would have a satiny white trim. I feel like the cat that ate the canary... I'm trying to resist, but I just gotta let it out!

Well.. that all for this edition. Maybe next time I will actually FINISH some of the DIY or... I could just have another project. Fingers crossed but my second (final) fitting should be this weekend!
