...we got our license today!

It was a lovely day-- we started out doing chores (rented a sander for the kitchen floor) but then cleaned up, headed to Piccadilly Fish & Chips (soooooooo good) and then went to City Hall. The process felt pretty impersonal and I was afraid the clerk was going to kick us out or reject us, but it went pretty smoothly (although don't expect to get in exactly when your appointment time is-- we had about a 30 minute wait, even though we showed up 10 minutes early).
After we had the paperwork, we ran a quick errand and then headed up to see the Rev. who is now marrying us-- it was very cool. She was very easy to talk to and seemed to genuinely take the tme to get a sense of who we were-- which given the amount of personalization we've been trying to put into our event, the personal touch with the ceremony and officiant was very important. I left feeling very relieved that things will go well, whatever may happen.
The water pitchers arrived. Yesterday, 48 vases arrived (24 are still on their way) and I got some shoes I ordered online (non wedding related) too... it's now feeling like Christmas every day! I'm hoping that tomorrow I can make some big progress on a few of the remaining craft tasks! My fiance's coworker is hosting a crafting get-together (and sushi party) and I'm totally excited for it.1
More on the progress later...

Growing my hair out for the wedding day has been itching for a new haircut... I'll be counting the days from my actual wedding to the moment I can chop off all this hair... I've actually been dreaming of it for months!
So here are the hairstyles currently in the running:
1. I love this but I'm not sure it will work on me-- the model here has such a fine bone structure... this would be my absolute number 1 if I could fine someone to convince me that I could pull it (or something similar) off without looking like a chipmunk...

2. Very cute-- but perhaps a bit messy for the workplace... my version of this would end up too frizzy on many days..

3. Very chic-- but the hair in my face would drive me nuts all day at work

4. Something in this league may need to be adapted a bit so it doesn't seem too girlish for the office, but these two pics are currently (jointly) the front runner

5. Something in this range would be a close second -- my hair is wavy so the style may end up a bit more like the left hand picture but I like more bangs and maybe a tad more length, which is why I added the right hand picture

...so only 8 weeks and I can jump right into one of these great styles... anyone have other good funky hair cuts that can survive both a funky night on the town and a conservative work environment?

We're 2/3 of the way to our floral setup... we're doing arrangements of three vases but I need the third vessel! Here are the first 2 (the second is the right side vessel in the right hand picture below)--
I'm thinking something low (but not pricey) for the third...

Here are the contenders:

As the days dwindle (and I'm starting to reach a critical time frame) I have waaaaay too much on my plate. In order to better organize these two months, the wedding week and the wedding day, I created a bunch of calendar to-do and event lists. I used the same format (in Publisher-- my favorite new tool) to draft table numbers as well... so here goes:

On my to do list for this week is posting the timelines on our wedding website... printing them for our out of town guests (done), confirming the favors order (done), ordering the floral supplies (started), ordering the feather butterflies (still a to do), contacting possible server staff (still a to do), and checking the delivery of water pitchers (done)... not too shabby so far!

I finally ordered the flowers today-- still need to pick and order vessels but here they are:
1. Jade green dendobrium

2. white hydrangea

3. ivory mini rose spray

4. flowers for the flower girl toss-- ivory rose petals and green hydrangea

sooooo....now what? I also ordered a bouquet, loose white dendrobium orchid blooms and flower hairpieces for the flower girls... I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this project... and suggestions from other DIY flower experiences?

I thnk I've been sucked into photo frenzy...I ordered special hangers for the pre-wedding "getting ready" photos...

Our photographer did give me a few planning tips... (which led to the obsessive hanger search)
- In planning the timeline, allow extra time between things (esp. w/ multiple locations-- thankfully, we're only at one general site for everythign!)
- hang your dress on a nice hanger, cloth covered or wooden
- place your earrings, shoes, anything special, etc. in a visible place
- have the bridal prep area visually pleasing and clutter free
- create a short list of the various groups for the group portraits, in order of priority
and last but not least (I liked this...)
Our photographer rocks! She's such a super cool person, so I'm really looking forward to seeing her results once we're through with this whole production... we're actually very fortunate, so far, in that we really jive well with everyone we've selected-- although we're doing a lot more ourselves than some, I think the people we are working with are fantastic!

We're getting close to figuring out our table layout... here is the blank diagram

And here is the tentative plan-- the dark red is the espresso/smoothis bar, the green is the sushi and small plates area, the large red circle is the cake table, the small red circle is the origami crane tree, the light blue are tables for gift cards, table cards, guest book, etc. The mustard yellow is the DJ table. (Ignore the square foot measurements)

Today, I had my next fitting for the rehearsal dinner and reception dresses-- it went well and afterwards, I went on to shop for slightly different buckles for each dress. Finding what I needed, I think felt compelled to use my Victoria's Secret gift cards for their intended use-- a wedding night ensemble.
Let me say, I have been on the fence recently about VS-- earlier in the spring, I just couldn't find what I needed and I had some poor customer service. This time around, however, I fared much better. I found some nice Betsey Johnson lingerie sets that tooootally suited my style and were still fairly flattering-- I can't find a pic on their website, but it's something like this, but without lace on the neckline and with little pouffy cap sleeves, accented with black lace and bows... so it's somewhere between cutsie and naughty.

Next up-- I think I'm going to take this fabulous black and iridescent teal satin and mesh lace and use it to alter some plain jane black undies as a quick fix for some honeymoon hotness... I have enough left on my gift cards to splurge for a coordinating bra or camisole... Time is going by sooo quickly!!! EEK!
