More family phone calls

I'm still getting contact info for much of my family, at least on Mom's side. I've been in touch with my aunt back and forth confirming numbers, and tonight I finally confirmed them all, and made some more phone calls. Mom has 5 cousins, only one of whom lives here, so it's imperative I contact them all, even if they can't all make it to the wedding.

I spent about an hour on the phone with Sharon, her cousin Barry's wife. We used to get together a lot when Rachel and Bryan(their kids) were younger, but Bryan's graduated from college now, like me, and Rachel's almost done with her Master's in nursing from the University of Florida. (Forgive me if I don't do the Gator Chomp; I'd have to cut off my hands and then. . no more blogs! ) Bryan majored in naval engineering(something specific to only a few Gulf Coast schools) and he's working for a small company in Louisiana now.

Tomorrow I'll call the rest of Mom's cousins. I can check off at least one cousin now, though, and luckily I have his address already. Sharon extended an invite to me and Will if we're ever around Palm Harbor, and she might even come up to Mom's house with Barry around Turkey Day. It'll be nice to see them, since I haven't, well, since my high school graduation, and another cousin's wedding, almost four years ago.

Speaking of cousins, one of mine is just starting med school in Michigan, and she contacted me too(via Facebook this time). I got her number, so I'll call her tomorrow too. We weren't especially close growing up, but it will be fun to see her and my uncle and JD(her brother) if they can make it to the wedding. Lindsey has been busy since she got into med school, but I'll talk to her somehow. She left a Facebook message saying her "little cousin" beat her to the punch! Guess I'm not so little anymore

It's funny how something as simple as a phone call can reconnect you with everyone close to you, and not-so-close. I really enjoyed talking to Sharon, and I think talking to Lindsey might be fun, too, even though we haven't kept in touch. I think all this wedding stuff might bring about some good changes in my family.
