"Oh, dear, I'm being blunt as a spoon!"

Remember that quote from the restaurant scene in "Mrs. Doubtfire"? Well, I'm still friendly with most of my exes. I'd never, never take any of them back if they begged me. . .but they have turned out to be better friends anyway.
Getting back to the Robin Williams quote, I was talking online with my high school ex yesterday. (Long story short, he flunked out of UF, and is going to UCF now. Sweet revenge since he taunted me in senior year about my "inferior" college choice. He's one of the weird ones, but we still talk now and then.) He read Facebook, and congratulated me, and we talked a little about wedding plans.
I guess I should have seen it coming when he asked, "So am I invited, or not?" No, he is not. And he knows it, because I tactfully told him. He is a friend as well as an ex, but my wedding is no place for any of my exes. Not even the one, coincidentally, who trains at the same aikido dojo. My exes are part of my past, this is the present, and the wedding marks the start of my future with Will.
My high school ex always speaks his mind when he feels like it, and he doesn't much care who he offends when he does it. He's still blunt, obviously. So I sure as heck didn't mind being blunt, yet nice, with him. I gave him the "we're starting with family only, since this will be expensive enough", which is God's honest truth.
I just found it funny-strange he would even ask.
