Looks like, according to my mom, we'll be inviting some third cousins to the wedding as well. Will and I have agreed on a "no one under 18" rule, but that'll have to bend a bit. (Some of my mom's cousins have kids, most of whom will be at least 18, but one will only be 14, or thereabouts, at the time of the wedding.) I've already invited two third cousins who will be 18 and 22, respectively.
I briefed Will on this, after one of my cousins left me a Facebook post saying he's pumped about the wedding. Awesome! I can't wait to see family...but I talked to my mom after I read that, and tried to make sure I was including everyone who, well, needed to be included. Turns out, most of her cousins are turning the wedding into a vacation, and bringing their kids. No problem. Most will be 18 or over. One will be fourteen, which left me worrying about making Will angry, 'cause she'll have to be invited. Can't invite one family's kids and leave the others out!
But I have a very understanding FI, and he and I and Mom have agreed to sit down and have a powwow first chance we get after New Year's. We only have four seats "open" as it is, so there will be some delicate, polite emails sent out once 2008 is here. I made sure to repeat to my mom, that it's our day, and even though I love my family, I love my almost-hubby too, and I don't want to force my family on him, or make him angry. (Bless my mom, she understood this before it was all out of my mouth!)
So...we'll have a small family meeting after Jan 1st sometime. Luckily, Will is taking it all in stride, and is already teasing me that our wedding is like "that big fat Greek movie". Even though I'm Polish. *sigh*
At least I can giggle about it
