No colored gowns for me

Posted Sunday, March 02, 2008 7:31 PM

I've been looking at wedding gowns again, especially since I decided to start my serious shopping in late summer.....

and I've firmly decided against having a color-accented gown. I'd rather our colors show up in the atmosphere, not on me directly! The more I thought about it, deep purple and sapphire blue are heavy, dark shades. I want myself to look light and airy!

My 'maids will either be wearing purple or blue, and the reception may have purple uplighting(I think Will still likes that idea).  There'll be a lot of those colors floating around as it is. So..the Alfred Angelo gowns have been removed from my notebook, but I'm still left with plenty of other options.

I want to wear some color, though...it'll just show up in my garter(yay, Auburn!) and perhaps my shoes, so I can wear them again. Isn't it funny how tastes can change so much? Such is life...and this purchase is one I really want to be happy with! So...no more color accent ideas for the gown itself. And I'm fine with that.

re: No more colors for me

I'm thinking about dying my crinoline a light blue, that with some light jewelry will be the only colors I'll have.  Oh, and my shoes.  I'm thinking something totally outrageous on my feet, especially since I'm a shoe fanatic.  But these ideas are changeable, and colors on a dress are not.  I think you'll look very sophisticated!

re: No colored gowns for me

I'm dying to wear red shoes with my gown, but I think my mother might just pass out. Just call me woman of the night!

If it makes you feel better, I really think the colors on the dress trend will end relatively soon. Also, I've been to 2 weddings with the same AA dress - it is one that people don't forget! Either way, I think you made the right choice to nto wear color accents in your gown - I'm sure you will look stunning.
