Has anyone NOT done engagement pics?

Posted Monday, March 10, 2008 6:28 AM

A good friend of mine(getting married this June) just got her e-pics done, and they are amazing! Props to Lindsey for finding an awesome photographer.

Will and I haven't seriously discussed e-pics, or our photographer choices in general, since the débacle with Stephen a few weeks ago. I've hinted that I want to get e-pics done(I think it's a cute concept, we could use them for a lot, and he loves pictures of him and me together).

I haven't brought it up seriously, though, because I'm afraid(whomever we choose as photographer) they'll be too expensive, and he'll be too shy. I want some traditional stuff, and I feel like e-pics are just that: (a new) tradition. I don't think I can explain much else to him. I mentioned my friend's pics to him, and we agreed to talk about the possibility later. For whatever reason, I really want to do them, even if we don't go the traditional route and announce our engagement in the newspaper.

Has anyone here chosen NOT to do e-pics? Are there any cons to NOT having them done? I really want them, but I'm afraid we'll have to leave them out...

re: Has anyone NOT done engagement pics?

Long story: We did e-pics in Maui, with our good friend.  I never got back the pics though.  Luckily, we have a few from my family who was also there.  So we have cute outfits, great background, but not professional shots.  We didn't pay though.

I don't think e-pics are traditional at all.  I think they are very contempary, actually.  They're cute, but I rather like our travel pics better.  We're both National Park Lovers, so we have a lot of cool pics together.  I haven't found any cons in not having them done.

From what I've found, a cheap photograher will charge anywhere from $250-400 for e-pics, and they can add that on to your package.

My advice: take your best photo-quality friend to the beach, national park, state park, and take some great pics.  It'll be almost the same, on a budget.  No probs.  Just make sure to get your pics!

re: Has anyone NOT done engagement pics?

We weren't planning on it, but the photographer threw it in for free with the package we bought.  It was his least expensive package, too.  If you haven't booked a photographer for the day-of yet then you might want to go ahead and do that and see if you can get the e-pics for free.

re: Has anyone NOT done engagement pics?

We didn't do formal e-pics and really  had no desire to.  A year ago February (two months before we were engaged) we went on a cruise together and had some formal shots taken on the boat that were good enough for us so we didn't want to pay for even more pictures to be taken.
