Invitations, part 2: ours are FREE! Yay!

Well, we just returned from Mom's house today. Only spent one day, but Wednesday night we're leaving again. (Ahhhhh!)

Anyway, last night, all of us(Will, Mom, Matt, and I) sat down with Jenny and looked at her invitation samples. They were all pretty standard, but she said that's what her brides have wanted to far, and she's aching to do something crazy. (She's one of those "true" artists--totally hippie type and she loves crazy projects.)

So...she totally jumped on the idea about our save-the-dates as concert tickets! Since I decided I wanted that format, I also thought about a small "poster" with our info, too. Something with all the necessary stuff on it, but it would look like one of those newspaper ads when concerts come to town. Matt surprised us and came up with an idea of writing "appearing one night only!" on it. Or something like that. Gave us all a good laugh.

Then the ticket format could be a magnet........and she loved the idea! Actually, everybody did. Even Will!

Best part is, she and I must have talked for at least two hours about everything: me, her, Will, school, her art business, etc etc. Somewhere in there, she gave me a big bear hug, and said our invites and save-the-dates would be her wedding gift to us. As in free...'cause she was a bride too, and she understands wedding expenses. Yay!

So...I guess that's a check, sort of. We agreed to email ideas back and forth, and she said she would design the "concert poster" once we had our information all complete. Then she'll send mock-ups and we can say yay or nay. We'll talk about invites too--probably something simple, and more formal for those.

We had a great time this weekend..and I was sorry to leave! I'm so glad I got to see her and Matt, though, and Will enjoyed himself too.

Woohoo!

That's awesome, getting a wedding check for a gift is always welcome!  I think if I had the choice of putting a ticket or a concert poster on my fridge, I'd choose the poster.  That idea is so original!

Thanks, those 2 are my current favorites also! My one concern is that the civil ceremony will probably be in July or August - so very hot and humid! I'd love to go barefoot, but we might be outdoors in a public park....probably not the best idea... :)

I really like the idea of concert tickets for save the dates! Very clever! And so great that you're getting them for free!! Certainly can't beat that!!!
