Table runners

Has or is anyone using table runners for their reception?? Our colors are  turqouise and pink. The only way to incorporate the turqouise is to use tablerunners. I spoke to a professional and they said it wouldn't look so good. That the tables would look like stripes.. What do you girls think! Thank you in advance!
