Good news for Luray, Virginia! The cable channel TLC has included the town in its list of Beautiful Destination Wedding Locales!

According to TLC "A lot of places were chosen for their scenic beauty. And Luray, Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley certainly have that in spades, what with being seated at the foot of the Blue Mountains."

The list specifically mentions Luray Caverns--a venue that has seen a lot of growth. "Since before the turn of the last century, Luray Caverns has been a unique setting for over 450 weddings. Most have occurred in the Ball Room, renamed the Cathedral in 1957 upon the completion of the Great Stalacpipe Organ, the world's largest musical instrument, now recognized in The Guinness Book of World Records," says John Shaffer, director of public relations at Luray Caverns.

Other hot spots, like Khimaira Farm, with it's beautiful panoramic views of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains, and South Court Inn, an elegant bed and breakfast that caters to brides and grooms, have helped put Luray at number two on the list, right below Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

re: TLC Names Luray One Of The Top Beautiful Destination Wedding Locales

My husband and I got married at Khimaira Farm in Luray, VA in October 2010.  We had been to Luray Caverns before but had never visited the farm.  More than a year before our wedding date, we went to visit Khimaira and fell in love immediately!  Not only is the scenery around the farm beautiful, but the look and feel of Khimaira itself gave me the "this is it!!" feeling right from the start.  The owners of the farm (Linda was my contact person!) were amazing and went out of their way to be helpful and provide advice.  I live out of the country but Khimaira was more than accommodating in scheduling in all my visits and answering my multitude of questions via e-mail.  The day of our wedding, the weather was perfect and Linda and her family helped us in getting everything set up and made sure everything went off without a hitch--everything went literally exactly as planned!  (how many people can say that?!)  A large part of this was due to Khimaira and their helpfulness with everything.  We also had a great experience with all of the vendors we used and our wedding day was definitely the dream I had always imagined it would be.  Thank you, Khimaira, for making our dreams come true!  I'm so glad TLC has recognized what a beautiful place you have!

We also got married at Khimaira Farm, on Memorial Day weekend this year. It was gorgeous, charming, unusual, fun, everything you could want for an outdoor wedding. The reception lodge manages to be elegant and homey at the same time, with lots of different seating areas both indoor and outdoor. Linda and her staff were amazing--organized, accommodating, warm & friendly. We had many guests tell us it was their favorite wedding that they had attended. Our photos (by Sera Petras Photography) were wonderful, with the mountains, flower gardens, green fields, trees, and even goats. (I think the top photo on this page is from Khimaira but it does not do the place justice--you really have to see it.)

My husband and I share a love for the outdoors and Shenandoah Mountains.  Khimaira Farm, nestled in Luray, VA offered a beautiful wedding venue at the foot of those mountains.  The convenience of having the wedding ceremony and reception in the same place made the whole day nice for everyone.  Linda is professional but also feels like family.  She lets you come to her home (your wedding venue) whenever you want to dream, pick out decorations, walk through all your ideas and plan.  With the gardens, fields, barns, trees, hay bales, goats! Etc- you can count on getting awesome photography.  One great thing about Khimaira (that you won’t find with many other locations) is that Linda lets you bring in all of your own vendors, making your wedding completely personal and as cost-effective as you want it.  Luray and Harrisonburg, VA have numerous vendors to pick from (for all you JMU, Bridgewater, and EMU brides).   I can honestly say Khimaira is beautiful all the time.  I went there every season before the wedding.  They take amazing care of their land.  Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and Linda and Khimaira Farm played a huge part in making that so.  I am forever grateful.  You will be more than pleased with your decision if you pick Khimaira Farm for your wedding day.

Another rave review for Khimaira Farm.  I got married here at the end of July and Linda and her staff did everything possible to accommodate my desires.  We felt totally at ease in their hands.  They were professionals, and everything ran without a hitch.  I could go on and on, because it was the perfect wedding.  Guests still email us to tell us how great the wedding was.  The ceremony site was set against the mountains, and then the reception was inside the barn.  Guests were able to wander all over the property, and the dance floor was perfect.  It was the hottest day of the year, but you wouldn't have known it.  Hands down, everything about the farm and working with Linda was the best.  I can't thank her enough for making my wedding weekend so special.

My husband and I were also married at Khimaira in 2010 and I can't say enough about Linda, her family, the farm, the vendors, and the experience as a whole.  It ended up raining during our ceremony, but we moved inside seamlessly.  It was very intimate and guests still tell us how amazing it was.  Linda makes decorating a cinch because she has so many decorations from previous weddings.  It's less waste and less cost for everyone.  The "green" practices of the farm meant a lot to my husband and I.  In addition, her son-in-law was a great DJ.  We used Main Street bakery as the caterer and were very happy with them.  I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful venue or more wonderful people.  This choice should be the easiest one you'll make!
