Registry Sunday

I finally got my fiance's attention and patience for the entire Sunday and took him to Macy's and Bed Bath & Beyond. I was surprised to see how happy he actually got when he realized that he gets to play an important role scanning all the things we picked.  Here are my feelings about Macy's vs. BB&B

Macy's - the atmosphere was very nice and intimate.  Apparently no one is shopping for cookware and bakeware these days, so we had the entire sections for ourselves. However, we noticed that a lot of the choices we made, were extremely expensive, and without a better justification. For example: we looked at the Circulon Contempo pot set of 10. We liked the funky silicone handles that never get hot, and the fact that it looked exactly like what Joe's mom has.  $275 with a bonus pot.  Online, directly from the maker - $199 (including the bonus).

Another thing we did not like was the attendant at the Bridal Registry desk. She was just not nice.  She did not say anything to us about the fact that we got engaged (no congratulations). She seemed bored and forced to work. Don't get me wrong, she was not rude, just not enthusiastic, and made me feel bad for bothering her.

BB&B - I was super surprised by the service at BB&B!

First of all - they took our coats! :-O SHOCKER!

Second, when we came into the Bridal Registry office, there was no one there.  A girl from the gift packing office saw us, invited us back into the Bridal Registry office, sat us down, gave us the form to fill out, introduced herself, asked about our date and congratulated us.  She then called in the bridal attendant who was to help us.  The super nice guy came in, took all information and told us he would attend us with the scanner and advice, because "shopping for your registry can be confusing, tiring and overwhelming, we don't want any of these feelings at BB&B" Every time he spoke to us, he was smiling, and asking about why we would like to pick up this or that item... for every one of our reasons he found better product, or an assisting product that we did not even know we may want to have.

Another shocker - every BB&B employee that passed us congratulated us!  Uncalled for... I was shocked!

It goes without saying that we found all the products that we picked at Macy's at a lower price (including the Circulon set) at much lower prices, which makes us believe that we actually have a chance of getting them :) We also found many other products we did not see at Macy's (even online) that were on our must-have list.

In summary, when it comes to Wedding Registry, BB&B is a hands down winner, and we will stick to one place, to save our guests confusion and spare them the aggravation of over-paying for our choices.

TheKnot Guest List

Posted Tuesday, October 06, 2009 1:13 PM

OMG I am totally in love with TheKnot's Guest List.  I Love it. Whoever came up with the idea should be named the employee of the year!

At first I did not know how to use it, so I added names to the list and thought - eh, so I have a list of names, I still have to get a separate Excel sheet with these names and add addresses and all... nope, I don't!!!

I know it is embarrasing to say, but just a few days ago, I accidentally clicked on one of the names and heaven gates opened... there is a space for everything... I mean EVERYTHING you need to know about your guests - their full name, address, email address as well as other options that help answer a lot of important questions like:

What table do I put them at?  Are they Single, with a child? What other parties are they invited to? Whoa re their guest?

I love how theknot.com just made my life so much easier :) I love the guest list more than the budgeter... although that is also an awesome feature!!
