Here's my rehearsal dinner dress! I've been keeping an eye out for cute, white dresses. Although I don't think it's customary to wear white for the rehearsal dinner, I wanted to, since I will only be a bride once (I hope!).

I saw this cutie on a girl in Vegas over the weekend. I was there for a friend's bachelorette party, and saw some random girl in this dress. I almost stopped to ask her where she got it, but didn't have time, as we were rushing to get to dinner. It must have been meant to be, because when I walked by the BCBG store in the Venetian on Sunday, there it was in the window! My wonderful fiance, Adam, who was also in Vegas for a bachelor party (our respective friends are a couple, and had their parties the same weekend, although we never saw one another until Sunday afternoon when it was time to leave!) bought it for me. What a great guy!

Anyways, I am so excited to have found such a cute dress. All I need now are some shoes......

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes...

I found yet another pair of shoes to wear on the big day!

As I posted before, my 'main' shoes will be my something blue. They're a gorgeous pair of Charles David heels in a lovely teal-ish blue. I love them......but know my feet may start to hurt around hour #4 in them!

My good friend and bridesmaid, Tracy, had these cuties on the other day:

So cute! And so perfect to wear after my feet start aching! The best part? I got them at Target for $6.88, on clearance. What a steal! It's hard to tell from the picture, but they have sequins on the straps and a little bling in the middle. Fancy flip-flops for the fanciest dress I'll ever wear!

What's your most comfortable wedding-wear item?

Something Blue

I found mine! Have you found yours?

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a picture of these beauties on my local board....

I was in love! they matched my wedding colors! Sadly, though, after purchasing these shoes and trying them on, they were just too painful to wear on my wedding day. Too high, too narrow, too....downright painful. I had to make the sad trip back to Nordstrom and say goodbye.

There is a silver lining this this story, however....I have been dead-set on wearing colorful shoes under my gown. I am just not into white shoes, wedding day or not! Right after returning these at the mall, I walked out of Nordstrom, and spotted these at Charles David:

I found my shoes AND my something blue! Woo hoo! And yes, that is a sparkly glitter trim around the shoe. They're awesome.

What is your something blue?

AW: Booked our photographers!

After lots of searching, we booked our photographers! Eight20 Photography came highly recommended from several of my fellow Los Angeles Knotties, and after meeting with Eric and Nicky and reviewing the awesome packages they offer, we were sold.

I have to say, finding a photographer was one of the most stressful 'jobs' so far. After the big day, the photos are all we'll have left, so it was very important to us to not scrimp in this area. I think what I liked best about Eight20 is that they offer quality work, but at reasonable prices. I also like knowing exactly what I was going to get in the package I chose.

So, one more planning hurdle down....our next big decision is the deejay. Any recommendations??

Eight20 Photography:

www.eight20photography.com

Ring Regrets?

So, as I mentioned in a previous post, we ordered our wedding bands during Icing on the Ring's 20% off sale. I loved the ring I chose, but as I thought about my choice a little more, I began to worry that it wasn't quite what I wanted.

You see, my engagement ring has diamond pave along the top and bottom of the ring. I love the way it sparkles. I realized that my wedding band was going to cover up the pave along the bottom of my engagement ring. Darn! So what's a girl to do?!?

We went back to Icing on the Ring on Saturday, and they were more than helpful in solving my 'dilemma.' They ended up taking a mold of my ring in order to custom design my wedding band (and at no extra charge for this!). They will also be adding an additional princess cut diamond to the front of the band, so that it matches the engagement ring perfectly, and will be adding diamond pave to the top and bottom of the wedding band (lots of extra charges for this part, though! Darn!).

The bad part about all this? I'm without my engagement ring for about two weeks. The jeweler took the diamond out and gave it to me for safe-keeping (which I promptly locked in the safe deposit box) and he will re-set it once they are done with the rings.

This is very similar to my e-ring and band....the pave was added to the engraved part underneath the channel-set princess cut diamonds.

So, now that has been taken care of, and I feel better now that I have exactly what I wanted.

This led me to think....are there any Knotties out there who didn't like either their e-ring or band? How did YOU handle it????

Not quite Haute Bride.....but pretty darn awesome!

About a week ago, I began to look for jewelery for the big day. I, like every Knottie, wanted the coveted Haute Bride bracelet....but it was a tad out of my price range....well, okay, more than a tad.

So, I began to look at other options. Dana Saylor on Etsy has some great designs very similar to the Haute Bride bracelet....but then I saw it:

It was on Ebay, calling out to me! I set a limit in my head, and began to bid. I waited and waited. One hour before it ended, I was outbid several times. Since I was driving, I had to frantically call Fi and have him log into my Ebay account (which was a sign of how desperately I wanted this bracelet, because the last time he signed into my Ebay account we ended up the proud new owners of a Roman warrior helmet....long story, for another day). I won it! And at $20 under my limit! Wooo hooo!

It's a Nadri 5-strand pearl bracelet. I think it will go perfecty with the style of my dress and with my other jewelry. I tried it on and it looks awesome with my ring, too. I can't wait to wear it!

I've also started to hear back from friends and family who have received our Save the Dates. It's all starting to become so real now, and I really do hope that our out-of-town family can attend. I know it will be tough in this economy, with flight prices skyrocketing and gaas prices out of control. Really, as cheesy as it sounds, seeing friends and family that I haven't seen for a long time would be the very best wedding gift......

I've also chosen the songs for the first dances...our father/daughter dance song will be a Paul Simon song, from The Wild Thornberries (such a sweet song!) and Fi and I will dance to Can't Help Falling in Love....but a version by the Eels. I think both of these songs are perfect for me and the men I'll be dancing with! We just need to pick the mother/son song, and we'll be set on that front. Since we're marrying in a church, (which provides an organist) we won't have too much to do to plan ceremony music.

Well, I'm off to prepare to picket tomorrow! Unfortunately, the budget situation in California is so terrible right now that the school district I work for is calling for a job action, and we will be picketing tomorrow morning. Solidarity!

We ended up in a private karaoke room at ZIP Fusion, a delicious sushi restaurant that has several karaoke rooms in the back.
I got Fi a Wii for his birthday, so much of the weekend was spent playing with that. It's addicting! I don't even really care fo video games, but I have to admit, it IS fun! I can't wait to get Wii Fit. I've called all over and no one has it anymore, so I will have to be patient.

On Monday, we went house-hunting in Playa Vista. The housing market in LA seems to have cooled a little bit, so we walked (well, Fi walked, I hobbled as my ankle is still sore) around, looking at condos. We'll see what happens! It would be awesome if we were able to find something out there- it wasn't too far from where Fi is at now, and would be closer to the beach, a definite plus. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

On Friday, in the middle of my class, my ankle began to hurt. I ignored it at first (at the instructor's threat of having to run on an incline) but after a few minutes the pain was un-ignorable (is that a word?!). My instructor noticed me struggling to keep up and pulled me aside, and I let her know that my foot was bothering me, and after that I was done on the treadmill. Despite icing it, heating it, numbing it with Aspercreme and Advil, rubbing it, praying for the pain to go away....the darn thing hurt all weekend and swelled up, giving me a cankle on my right leg!

I finally went to Urgent Care tonight.....the diagnosis is a stress fracture. Apparently, my muscles weren't quite strong enough to handle so much repetitive motion so soon, causing my bones to take much of the impact of the running. Soooo....no boot camp for two weeks, no hard exercise involving my feet for four. Talk about feeling frustrated and discouraged! This is exactly why I hate exercise. I've barely lost any weight and now can't walk- ugh! I now have a fancy brace-thing that I have to wear for two weeks- it's a beauty:
