Woooo Hoooo!

I was so happy this morning to see my blog featured as Blog of the Week!  It's been a long, boring week for me of nothing but exercising, busy days at work, and feverishly working on my Save the Date cards and envelopes, so this was a nice little boost for my spirit, as I was feeling a little overwhelmed!

Happy Friday, everyone, and enjoy your weekend! Oh, and Happy Mother's Day to any mommies reading this!

Oh, my achin' bones.....

Day four of boot camp was today.....my poor muscles are still really sore.  It's been worth it, though, as I weighed myself today and have lost four pounds through Weight Watchin' and boot campin'.  Yay!

On the down side, my muscles huuurt and I have blisters on my foot.  I got new shoes yesterday at RoadRunners- they are a huge improvement! Here are my new magic shoes:

They are giving me much better arch support and since I learned yesterday that I run on my tip-toes (per the girl at RoadRunners) I think my feet will feel better now!

Boot Camp, Meet Your Newest Enlistee.....

Posted Monday, May 05, 2008 1:07 PM

I started boot camp today!  I was up with the birds at 5:15 am, jogging away on the treadmill at Barry's Boot Camp. Thanks to the fabulous knotties on the LA Board, I chose this boot camp to help get me in shape, and boy, will it ever!

We began the class with 30 minutes on the treadmill. Initially, I thought, "How bad could a treadmill be?" Answer: BAD!  We alternated sprints and walking....I surprised myself by hanging in there and running the sprints, the longest of which was 6 minutes, with a speed increase each minute. Brutal! This was the only time I thought I might be off to visit Jesus in person.  After the treadmill, we worked out with weights.  My arms and legs are a little sore, but surprisingly, I am not as tired as I thought I'd be- I actually feel a little peppier than I normally do. When I got home at 6:30 I was pleased by all I had accomplished this morning.  Yes, it was hard getting up that early, but no harder than it normally is for me to get up.

I measured and weighed myself yesterday, so when I am finished with this course (it's 20 days long) we'll see how much weight/inches I lost!  I am continuing with Weight Watchers as well (but allowing myself a few extra points to make up for what I burn in camp. I am excited to see the end results!

 Yay, Erin!!!!!

We Love LA.......We love it!

Posted Saturday, April 26, 2008 2:02 PM

It's a gorgeous day here! So hot! I sat out on the patio this morning and read the paper and managed to get a little min-tan!

Last night we tried a great new organic restaurant in downtown Culver City....it was delicious. While not strict organic eaters ( in fact, I would not describe us as healthy eaters by any means! We love our junk food!) we really enjoyed this restaurant.

The FI had braised short ribs with mashed potatoes and a side of mac n' cheese. So good! I had a pizza with chicken sausage- the super thin crust was great and didn't kill my diet.  The portions weren't huge and I left feeling satisfied, but not competely stuffed like I normally am after a dinner out! We shared our desserts- I stuck with a semi-healthy raspberry tart and Adam had a chocolate gelato. Like I said, the portions are small, so I was able to have a treat without feeling guilty!

Here's the web address for any LA Knotties who'd like to check it out:

We are off to enjoy this beautiful weather by taking a long walk!

My Save the Dates are here...

Posted Friday, April 25, 2008 2:33 PM

and ready for the Save the Date Fairy Godmother to assemble! I ordered the magnet part (on the left of the picture) from Creative Montage, and they arrived on Monday. After realizing my original idea was not going to work, I had to re-vamp my idea.  I went to the Paper Source, where I purchased Jupiter Red Stardream cards, flat cream cards, and went to work!  It took about an hour to come up with a design that would work and to format it on the computer....

These are going to take a while to put together! I don't think I realized how much work it was going to be.  It's all right, though.  I like crafting and it's just assembly at this point, so I'll get through it. It helped that I got a head start on little things like this, because I feel like I have time and am not rushing. I hope to have them finished by the end of the weekend......I have the cards all printed, it's just a matter of sticking all the cards together and stuffing envelopes.  I highly recommend the Xyron adhesive! It comes in a handy little dispenser and reeaally sticks! You don't get much of it, though, so I've had to conserve a bit!

Here they are- sorry about the smudges for Internet safety!

This isn't the best picture ( a smidge crooked, I'd say! ), but gives you the general idea of what they look like. Oh, and I decided that instead of the two rhinestones around the date, I am putting just one next to the little poem instead.

Thank you to Creative Montage for designing the magnets!

Weight Watchin'....and a new Day One!

Posted Tuesday, April 22, 2008 3:21 PM

Well, I made the humiliating trip back to my local Weight Watchers Monday. After a couple weeks of attempting to weight-watch on my own, I was down a whopping..............wait for it...................0 pounds! Yay, me! But, on the bright side, since really sticking to Weight Watchers for the week, I am down 2 pounds.....yippeeeee! Now for the hard part...the weekend!

I think I really need the humiliation of having someone else weigh me!  Knowing that I have to be accountable to a stranger works for me for some reason. I can't do it on my own!  I also like the praise I receive when I do lose weight. For some reason, that little bookmarker you get at Weight Watchers for losing 5 pounds is a treasured prize.  When I weigh myself at home, there is no one there to say, "Good job!" I guess the FI could, but there is no way in heck I am telling him how much I weigh!

So anyways, today is my new Day One.  I did good today and stayed on track, even through the dreaded lunch time.  I planned ahead, and even set aside points for my coffee in the morning. No Dr. Pepper at lunch- a large, unsweetened iced tea instead. I still got to eat McDonald's, but the fries were nixed in favor of a side salad, which was surprisingly good.

  Mmmmmmmmmmm!

Chicken, Beef, or Children?!?!

Posted Saturday, April 12, 2008 1:54 PM

I am having an RSVP card dilemma. On the RSVP card, I'd like for my guests to indicate their choice of entree, so that I can put it on their place card and make it easier for the waiters at our venue.  Sounds fine, right? Well, our venue also offers children's entrees of Mac & Cheese and Chicken Nuggets, and I need to know how many children's entrees my guests need. My question is: how should I word this on the RSVP card, without people thinking they can just bring their children (even though their names won't be on the invite?) The only children that are coming are those of close friends in the wedding and family.

So, here was my attempt at trying to get all of this information onto my RSVP card:

My fabulous graphic designer and I had a good laugh at this one- it looks like I will be serving children as a main course......I'm glad she will just do as I want and then let me see how it turns out, rather than telling me it won't work (hey, I'm stubborn, I need to see it for myself!) Obviously, my "vision" needs some major "re-vision"!

So, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  I've heard many a horror story about guests adding people to their RSVP cards, and the last thing I want at my wedding is a bunch of un-invited children running around!

 Happy Weekend everyone!

My Maids' gifts are here! Yay!

Posted Monday, April 07, 2008 8:03 PM

I ordered these cute tote bags from the Gap for my bridesmaids last week, and they arrived today!  I had originally wanted to get monogrammed totes from LL Bean, but I spotted these while browsing online last week. They were on sale for 50% off, so the price was right! I also had a $10 off coupon, so that helped even more. Yay for bridal bargains! I am thinking of either having them monogrammed, or else purchasing iron-on transfers and adding their names or monograms myself. We'll see- whichever is more reasonable. I bought one extra one just in case my DIY goes wrong!

I've also purchased a ton of stuff to go inside each bag.  I got these really cute polka-dot tin boxes from Michael's last week, which I am going to use to make a Wedding Day emergency kit for the girls with a little sewing kit, band-aids, Tylenol, etc.  I also got them some cozy chenille socks, pink Swiss army knives (with little scissors- too cute!), a picture frame, a bath scrubbie, and a few other little things.  The best part of it all has been that everything has been on sale, so I haven't broken the bank to get them something nice!  I think once we get their dresses I may try to find a reasonably priced pashmina downtown in the Fashion District.

As for the diet, it is going well! I've lost 4 lbs- yay! Weight Watchers.com also has a Buff Brides 12-Week Workout that I am starting today. It seems pretty manageable, alternating cardio and weight training.  For the first week, my goal is 60 minutes of cardio- totally a reachable goal.  I'll keep you posted! Almost time for The Bachelor, so I'm off to get my pj's on! Good night!
