well its done. i'm officially the last in my family to get married. hahaha. i'm not too worried.
Crystal's wedding was beautiful. she picked out the best dresses, the best colors and the best guy to marry. i think that hotel suite the night before is a must. and the whole bridal party should be invited. this made everything soo much easier the morning of the wedding its not even funny. everyone met at the hotel and got their hair and makeup done. we were allowed to do whatever hair and makeup we wanted. which was awesome. (nails got dont the day before.... i must remember that.)
the wedding was scheduled for 3:45 to go along with the date of 6-7-08... get it?we were at the church by 1:30 and in our dresses not too long after so we could do as many pictures as possiable. good thing too.
the service was really nice. i think i liked it a lot. it was a formal episcopal wedding with communion and everything. i liked the duet april and JV did. Panis Angelicous..... amazing. i think i'll have someone sing... it was really cool. but i liked the ceremony schedule and everything.... damn crystal for getting everything i like first. hahaha.
the reception was at the germania which was nice size wise because no matter who left it never felt empty. i didn't like the wall inbetween everything but you win some you lose some. the tables were cute with white table cloths and purple and green ribbon # on them... (thats what it looked like on the table hahaha) the center pieces were cute vases and fake flowers. they looked cool. very cheap and beautiful. but they were heavy due to the glass stones that were in them.
shannon's cake was adorable and SO YUMMY!!!! she is doing mine. there were little flowers sprinkled with purple glittery sugar. it was adorable. it was mostly vaniella with a rasberry filling. SO good.
the dj was pretty crappy. and hardly anyone danced.... i hope people dance at my wedding.
the polaroid idea was so cute and i hope they're stll avilable when my wedding comes. kelly got some cute shots. i dont know what else. it was harder to be critical because i was the maid of honor for this one. so it was really kinda my pet too. weird....
well whitney isnow engaged. so we'll see how that one goes! yay!

well on the 15th of december i was in another wedding. The Bride was my boyfriend's sister shaina.
before i talk about the wedding i have to say taht she was probably the most cals i have ever heard of when it comes to being a bride. she had some mini meltdowns when it came to her dress being stained after comming BACK from the cleaners. and another one when we all thought that her brother (my boyfriend) wasn't going to be able to make it home to be in her wedding because of army training in texas that he only just started. there were more i'm sure but i dont remember them. due to her normal attitude, she waws totally mello on her wedding day. i happened to be about an hour late for getting my hair done due to road conditions and she was sooo chill about it i was amazed!
okok now the wedding.
having the later time is a must. playing scatagories while we're waiting is a must. everyone getting their hair done and drinking mamossas are a must. lol. shaina was adorable and bought us all matching pj pants to wear durring the day. it was a great idea and we looked so cute. i liked that we got to do our hair however we wated to. a lot of people ended up choosing half up, and everyone chose curls. it was funny. the wedding was at 5:30 and we started getting ready at 10. this gave us plenty of time for hair being done. we were at the church by 3:30. also a great idea because we had enought time to do our makeup then start pictures with out the couple seeing each other. but this cut our picture time afterward. nice!
the wedding was beautiful. there were few flowers but it was necessary due to the elegance and detail of the church. i would like a few flowers here and there. the ceremony was beautiful. more contemporary. unity candle whitch i think i want. the prayers were awesome and the scripture was so fitting for the couple. i want a more personal ceremony i think. maybe not episcopalian... but who knows. if my pastor lets us create our own ceremony it'd be cool. there was a moment durring the ceremony where the couple prayed with just the two of them, their heads together. it was the most beautiful moment. the piano for everything except the bridal enterance was georgous. very fitting. i think that will be the same for me. the bride entering to not the typical song was refreshing....
at the reception the clocktower was beautiful but a little too big for my taste.... and too elegant for my personal ideal setting. i want something more personal. the buffet ws great. the head table getting served was a good idea but not necessary because we got our food after everyone else, not before. the decorations were nice but too bare for me. i want flower centerpieces, not little sparkley twisty things in vases. it was a little weird and a hastle to help make. the couple doing their dance as soon as they were ready was great. people could still sit and dine if necessary and the couple entertained. i liked that. it was nice. the dollar dance was alittle too long for my taste. but a good idea. the married couple thing i've seen before but instead of just standing like in this one i've seen it where its been a dance off. i like that idea better.its more interactive. celebrate being the first song was genious... but i dont want the same song... something similar. the slide show durring dinner was a very cute idea. the MC (a friend) was amazing. he had such a great personality that everyone seemed to feel at home with him. if i cant get him to do mine as well then someone with just as much character would be great.
questions to ask venders from this example:
what happens to leftovers? how long will food set out incase of late commers?
things to remember:
cake box for top pier of cake
enough transportation for gifts
couple signed picture frame (very cute)
get nails done the day before
tell people to get waxed whatevers done two days before
set up everything at the reception hall the night before

ok, so i'm not engaged yet. but i will be . the thing is, Jake is right now in Basic Training. yeah talk about putting our lives on hold. But it was a smart choice. College is expensive and he's only in the National Guard. Radiology is worth the price. i wouldn't want to have to spend the money or rack up the debt for that profession. so i'm ok with his choice, and i like the idea of being a military wife. anyway, it's never too early to start thinking about what i'll want to do for my own wedding when i'm surrounded by so many others. my brother just got married on September 29th. Jake's sister is getting married on December 15th and my sister is getting married on June 7, 2008. all of which i am or was a bridesmaid for. so i have a lot of things i can comment on so far. so for the beginning i will just state what i like and dont like about the weddings that i'm in.
first was Devin, my brother, and Wendy.
they had a small wedding, only 150 people invited. this will never be the case for me with jake's family. the bridesmaid dresses were ok but because they were long and no one wore their shoes they got really dirty in the reception cabin. the stiff material was uncomfortable. but i liked that we got to choose our own shoes and hairstyles. because there were only 4 of us we all opted for half up and curly. cute.
the ceremony was short but formal with normal episcopal procedure. (i think i want a unity candel) wendy didn't want any extra decoration due to the richness of the church itself. understandable. candels on poles that are attached onto the ends of the pews (church allowed use) was very romantic, i would have liked more flowers. orgeon was not my favorite but pretty, i would have liked more music. given my friends they might want to do that. maybe a small orchestra would be ok since its what my church does at christmas.... price is a question. singers are a must i think. i did not like the sermon given... (or maybe i just didn't like the preist)
the reception hall was too big for the 120 people that actually came. i think that a smaller area will make the event seem fuller. i dont mind having things a little cramped. the building was shaped like an 'L' with the tables in one area and the DJ and dance floor taking the entire other side. i HATED that. i want music to be audioble throughout the entire reception area. i want people to be able to watch the dancing from their tables if they dont want to participate. i liked the buffett style eating. and the vegitarian option was a must and is for me too. italian food was good.....
real flowers are my preferance. the vase and mirror centerpiece was cute but i think i would like something a little shorter, baskets maybe due to the probable summer date. the candels were romantic, i dont care who you are. lol. i think i want contrasting napkins to the table cloth. maybe a white table cloth with both colors in the flowers and the best in the napkins (or easiest to match) i think i want chair covers. i want the place that we are to have class and character. enough that i wouldn't have to put up a lot of decorations. i want to be very sensitive to the season of year and i want that season reflected in my decorations.
i want the guest book and signature photo frame to be available right when you get to the door. (polaroid guestbook is very very cute. if i had that i wouldn't need the photo frame) pictures of the couple, (and family in wendy's case) are totally adorable and the viewing table is cute. but i'd put on a smaller table along with a ceter piece type of decoration. they had it in the dance room and we all know how i feel about the dance room in the first place.
the cake was so adorable, simple and classy. i want monograms i think. and a little bit of color.... not much. but i loved the texture of the icing. not the smooth fondent that you see. i think that fans as favors are adoreable, maybe with our monogram on it or with it somehow. i dont want to give candy. maybe mints in cute packages. the tea is an adorable idea. the chinease takeout boxes are cute too. the mini magnet photo frames with the couples engagement picture in it is so cute..... so many options.
thats all i can think of for right now.
oh my color ideas (bright because of the season!):
green, tiffany (or just light/bright) blue and black
blue white and black
green and blue
blue, green and silver
