Stripes... I love stripes!

One of the elements that we are using to accent our wedding is stripes. I wanted to have a modern look to our wedding and still keep things very crisp and clean. I'd seen a lot of polka-dots previously, and they had that nice modern look to them, there was just something about that wasn't quite what I wanted. I think it was on a STD magnet website where I first saw stripes being used, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted that accent on our STDs as well. Since we decided to design our own STDs and use Vistaprint to design them, I created an image in MS Paint of the stripe pattern I was interested in using. I didn't create it in Photoshop like I did with the rest of our STDs because at that time I was still learning the software and had no idea how to create a solid striped pattern in it.

I liked the look of the stripes on our STDs so much that I decided to continue it in other aspects of our wedding. With DIY invities being one of our major tasks, I realized our local Hobby Lobby would be a great asset for me to purchase supplies for our DIY projects. While walking through the scrap booking aisle I came across scrap book paper that is red, black, white and pink striped!  It fit the same non-uniform stripe pattern that we had already used, it just also contained pink. I didn't see this as a problem since I was already planning to use pink as an accent color in BM bouquets. I bought a piece of the paper to take home and show Anthony to get his thoughts on it. Wow... he didn't like it! He was totally turned off by the pink and argued that it's not one of our wedding colors. After some discussion and a trip to Hobby Lobby with him to let him see what other options we had, he decided that the pink in the stripes wouldn't be so bad after all. We bought all the striped paper left at that Hobby Lobby store (50% off sale too!) and even drove another 30 or so minutes to go to another Hobby Lobby to pick up the remainder of what we would need for our invitations.

Here's what our invitations with the scrap booking paper looks like, however the layout of the text has changed considerably since I did this mock up.
