Still feeling Overwhelmed

Posted Sunday, January 13, 2008 8:05 PM

Ok, so it's been maybe a week since I blogged about everything I have left to do. During that time my list has gotten even longer. FFIL happened to come to town during that time taking even more of my time away from working on our invitations. I didn't get nearly as much done on our invitations this weekend as I had hoped, but the good news is what I did get done, didn't take me as long as I had expected and that's given me hope that the rest of it won't take as long as I anticipate it to take.

All is not lost this week though. Last week my friend Emily (a BM) and I went to pick up the BM dresses and also the jewelry I had made for the girls by a Columbus knottie (ChiMonique - Monique's Boutique, she's awesome!). The dresses turned out wonderful! The color wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it's ok because it's still a fabulous color and one of my favorites. Emily was very excited because her dress fit so well she will need little to no alterations!
Here's Emily in her dress:

And the necklace and earrings from Monique's Boutique:

Some of the other things I accomplished this week include mailing dresses to my MOH and my sister who will not be coming to Columbus until the wedding. This was a pretty big feat for me considering it was pretty busy at work this week and I didn't think I'd be able to get away on my lunch break to drop them off at FedEx, but I did, and both the girls got their dresses on Friday! My dress and the extra material for the flower girl's dress still have not come in yet, so I called the bridal salon to harass them a bit. Last week when Emily and I were there, they said they'd call and check up on the during the week and I didn't hear anything back from them. Basically I don't want them to forget about me. I've already stated I want my dress in, and my aunt is making the FG dress and obviously can't start until the material is in. I'd like to give her as much time to work on that as she likes. So put harassing the bridal shop on my list of things done

I also called my Mary Kay consultant to make sure I'd given her the wedding date when I asked if she would do our make up and to schedule a trial for make up. I discovered during this conversation that she doesn't charge for her to do our make up! I originally thought it was about $5 to cover the cost of the samples she used on us, but I was wrong. However this makes me feel a little more obligated to buy something from her, and makes me wonder if she'll try to pressure my girls into buying something as well, which I really, really don't want. I may forewarn them that they are not obligated to buy, but if they don't they might want to give her a few dollars for her time and services.

After that I called the hair salon I made appointments for me and the girls at to adjust some appointments and schedule a trial for my hair. After that, I felt compelled to figure out what to do with my hair for the wedding. I've been so indecisive about it that I knew that wouldn't fly with the hair dresser. Ok, maybe it would, but that would probably lead to her choosing my hairstyle and me hating it. I was looking for ideas how to style the front since I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted the back to look. Then I came across a picture that I just loved the look of. It's unlike what I had originally thought I'd wear my hair, which was up in a chignon type style. I think this is the style I'm going to go with:

I just love it! Simple, but pretty and very classic looking. I'm going to have my stylist try this one out to see how I like it down, and also an updo so we can figure which looks best with my face. I have a feeling this style will look best with my gown because it will kind of hide the halter strap that might look kind of strange from the back otherwise. Finding this style put me on the hunt for a hair piece that I can wear with it. I'm not 100% on this yet, but I'll either wear a flower (to be determined what type with my florist) or something more along the lines of this:

hair comb

What do you think? Flower(s), or hair piece?

So for not getting more done with our invitations, I still feel like I got some other pretty important tasks finished, and a piece of mind with my hair for now.

re: Still feeling Overwhelmed

Sounds like a productive week!  I love the BM dresses, the color is so rich and luxurious.  And the hair!  So pretty!  I vote for the clip, though I don't know what flower it would be.  I love the clip, and you can wear it again.
