Couple checks to add to my list!

FINALLY! The invitations are done! All that is left for me to do is buy stamps for the mailing envelope and shove in the mail box! I've got a few more weeks yet before I plan to send them out, so I've got plenty of time to pick up the stamps. I really liked the way the Chinese New Year stamps looked on our red RSVP envelopes, so I'm debating buy some more to put on the mailing envelopes and get a stamp or two (or three or four) to make up the postage difference since our invites will cost 58 cents to mail. I'm not a fan of the 58 cent heart stamps the USPS offers, and I refuse to pay extra to have custom postage from zazzle or the likes. So that leaves me with having to get 41 cent stamps and few other stamps to make up the difference. Of course being anal about presentation of the invites, I keep looking for stamps that will look nice together and not completely clash with our invitation colors. Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot who's glutton (is that spelled right? or did I just spell that stuff found in wheat? lol) for punishment!
Another check for my list is our card box! It's fully assembled and at this time has even been put away for storage for the next couple months until it's time to use it! I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and it cost me a lot less than the picture frame card box I was originally going to do. God I started looking at frames for those and realized how much it would be for a bunch of decent looking 8x10 frames and I nearly fainted! This box probably cost us probably just a little over $15. $10 of which was spent on the paper mache boxes of which we bought a nesting set of 5 and only used 3. Still they were cheaper to buy as a set than individually, and now we have a couple extra boxes to use for wrapping WP gifts or what ever! Ok, enough chit chat, here's the final product:

It turned out to be a fairly simple DIY. I bought foil wrapping paper 50% off at Hobby Lobby after Christmas, and wrapped it the paper mache boxes that I had already cut slits/holes into to create a "catch basin" for cards. Then I used black double faced satin ribbon to wrap around the boxes. Ok, ok some of them them ribbon doesn't actually wrap all the way around the box, it actually stops just after it was tucked under the bottom of the box. Why waste good ribbon I can use else where? And you can't tell, right? After that I used a little duct tape and super glue to adhere all the boxes to one another.
Essentially what we created is a box that we'll have to cut/rip into after the wedding. The knot has me paranoid about people walking off with wedding gifts, so we wanted to make it hard for someone to get into that box with out demolishing it and it's quite large so if someone walks off with it, we'll know! lol
And finally, today we're going to the jeweler to pick out our wedding bands and then off to Cleveland to B.A. Sweeties a HUGE candy store that also retails online (www.groovycandies.com) to purchase candy for our candy buffet. We're trying to take advantage of the extra red candy that will be in store for Valentine's Day. It's gonna be a fun day!
