The Story of Us

I figured since I've been blogging about wedding stuff for about a month and a half now, I'd mix it up and write a blog about Anthony and I and how we met.

I'm originally from New York State, but moved to Ohio July 2004 for a job after I finished grad school. About a year after I moved to Ohio, I got a part time job at a Polo Factory store to make some extra cash and fill some of my free time. Since I knew no one in Ohio except my co-workers, I had a lot of free time! 

One Monday morning in early October 2005, I was on my way to work and stopped at a red light when I see this red, white and black Mitsubishi Eclipse go flying through the intersection. I thought to myself "tool mobile" that's what I call all those teeny-bopper pimped out cars that look like majority of the car belongs at a car grave yard.

We were expecting a slew of new people starting at work that morning and when I pulled into the parking lot, what do I see front and center? You got it, the "tool mobile." I think to myself "Oh no! The tool is one of the newbies. Hopefully he's not one of the ones that will be on our team." Well he was, and his name was Anthony.

Fast forward to lunch time. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to lunch with her and her friend who was just starting today, plus I'd get to ride in her new car. I was down with it, problem was, there was such a large group of us going to lunch we wouldn't all fit in her car, so since I was the only other person who knew how to find the place we were going to, I had to drive. And the Tool Newbie was the only one left with out a car to ride in, so he got to ride with me. Lucky dog!

We chatted during the ride to lunch, he was a nice guy, I didn't get much out of him but at least I was introducing myself and learning a little about the new person. I mentioned to him that I also worked part time at Polo. My friends friend who was starting that day as well ended up becoming good buddies with Anthony and I, the three of us started sitting together at lunch, and their first Wednesday on the new job, a large group of us went to get beers after work. It was our way of getting to know the newbies. It was at this time Anthony told me that he had an interview at Polo the next evening, a night that I was working.

He had applied at Polo long before he was offered a job at our full time place. He had recently been laid off and was just trying to find something to keep him going until he found something stable. 

The next night he came in while I was working, met with the manager on duty, Kate who didn't even realize at first that we knew each other, she was about half way into the interview when she realized it, but she'd already had a premonition by that time.

When Anthony left I said to Kate "I don't know what it is about him, but there's something I like. I'm not sure if it's the kind of like that is just friendship, or something more. It's so refreshing to see someone so down to earth who doesn't judge others, he's pretty cool." To which Kate replied "OMG! I don't know if it's the pregnancy or what (she was about 7-8 months at that point) but I totally had a vision of the two of you getting married just after he and I started talking! I didn't even know at that point that you two already knew each other!" *que twighlight zone music*

Anthony came in for another interview with our General Manager the following Saturday, I was also working. Before he left, we exchanged phone numbers and made plans to hang out when I was done work.

That evening was the start of a friendship that soon turned into a relationship. One that we had to keep quite at our full time job. lol
