I recently got a look at a travel guide called LUXE New York, the newest destination from LUXE City Guides. I really like the way LUXE guides are set up -- rather than flip through pages like a book, they unfold into one long sheet that's packed full of useful info. They're also small (about 6” by 3”) and light, so they're easy to carry around. It's a little surprising at first to open the LUXE New York guide because there aren't any pictures inside, but start reading through and you realize that the layout makes a lot of sense. There are recommendations for activities, bars, weekend brunch spots, and accommodations, as well as walking tours and shopping itineraries organized by neighborhood. And the attractive packaging makes their box sets an eye-catching gift. LUXE has guides for 22 cities; LUXE New York retails for $9, available at LuxeCityGuides.com
