A new hotel opened in July in Portugal's Douro Valley, an area with scenic vineyards famous for producing port wines (read more about honeymooning in Portugal, and other wine-making regions like Napa and Tuscany). The Aquapura Douro Valley consists of 50 rooms and 21 villas and sits right on the Douro River, which runs through northern Portugal. The hotel aims to incorporate a modern decor into the traditional setting -- the property is centered around a 19th century manor house, and there's also a pool, two bars, and a spa (complete with chocolate facial treatments).
The nearest airport is in Porto, and from there the hotel is a 70-minute drive (they'll arrange your transportation for a fee). Rooms start at about $245 a night, check AquapuraHotels.com for more info.
