Spending the night in a 19th century jail might not conjure thoughts of comfort and romance. A new hotel in Boston will prove otherwise. The Charles Street Jail -- originally built in the mid-1850s to house convicts -- has been completely overhauled and transformed into The Liberty Hotel, which began welcoming guests in September.
Located at the foot of Beacon Hill and right next to the Charles River, the building's architecture remains dramatic while the accommodations -- including Molton Brown bath products and LCD televisions in every room -- cater to those looking for a posh weekend away from wedding planning. For a surefire way to relieve stress, sip some champagne in the hotel's new La Grande Dame Bar, the first Veuve Clicquot branded bar in the country.
