What's a Holiday?

Alfred and I just got back from a busy Labor Day weekend.  After a rousing Cal victory on Saturday night, we headed straight down to Salinas, where Alfred's folks live.  My parents (and one of my brothers) were also coming up.  There was a lot of touristing around the prettiness of Monterey and Carmel (it's my family's first time up in this particular part of the area), but a big reason for the parents getting together was to discuss wedding stuff.

Guestlists were discussed (a little over 100 people so far with our friends and Alfred's family....my mom has her list but didn't bring it up with her) and it's looking to be a pretty sizable reception!

One nice thing that we loosely hashed out was a schedule of the day.  I just sat there and plugged in hours of the day, going back and filling what we knew was going to happen for sure at specific hours and then going back again and filling in the blanks.  It took a grand total of maybe 15 minutes.  The time before the tea ceremony is supposed to start is a little hazy as is when we expect for the reception to end, but I think we have a good start.  How much time do you think I'll need to get ready anyway??  I guess that depends partly on the hairstyle I pick out, which by the way, I have no clue about, plus my mom doesn't think I need a hair and makeup trial beforehand.  Uh, great way to be freaked out on the day of.

My mom also drafted the wording of the invitation (Chinese and English); she basically used a friend's invitation as a draft.  Well, she basically copied it.  The 2 of us will look it over to see if we want to make any changes.

Long holiday weekends are supposed to be about relaxing or at least getting away from the daily grind, but oh ho ho, not so much this year!  I am exhausted at the moment and wish I could take a breather from the long weekend!  Maybe I'll take a nap and wake up not feeling so cranky.
