Wedding Bands

I didn't think we'd get this checkmark so soon, but Alfred and I have our wedding bands picked out!

After watching a nailbiting Cal/CSU game in the Peninsula with other alums, we stopped by the jeweler's (same one that Alfred got my e-ring from) since we were in the area.  This was my first time doing any sort of ring shopping as Alfred did the e-ring shopping all by himself, so I didn't know how long it would take to find something we each liked.  I shouldn't have expected anything different from the typical boy's shopping experience (quick, no hmm-hawing) for him as he pored through a case of men's wedding bands and picked out his favorite in about 10 minutes.

What did he choose?  It looks like this: hammered style, 8mm, 14K white gold, beveled (?) edge (as opposed to straight edge).  Simple, but it's got a little somethin' somethin' to it.  I told him that it reminded me of steel drums and he retorted that he was trying to get in touch with his Rastafarian side.

I took a little while longer to make my decision.  My ring is shaped so that I'm unable to wear a straight-up, circular band.  The diamond (radiant shape) is bezel set with a bunch of little diamonds in pave setting surrounding it.  The band itself also has pave set diamonds...sort of looks like this.  So you see that I needed something different for my situation!  What I ended up choosing a a white gold band w/pave diamonds (I love shiny, sparkly things....) that is notched at the area that meets the bezel setting (so there are no diamonds there).  It looks really weird on it's own, like a chunk of ring went missing, but I don't intend to wear it w/o the e-ring, so it works out for me.  I'll take a picture when I get my e-ring back as I had to relinquish it temporarily (2 weeks!) so the jeweler can work on it.

I chose this design because I didn't want a curved/irregularly shaped band.  Plus, if I (or Alfred, ha!) was ever so inclined, I could always get another band in the same shape to wear on the other side of the e-ring (3 bands altogether that will sit flush up against each other).

Yay :)
