Wedding Favors

I like the idea of wedding favors, but most of the time, after attending a wedding, I come away with a sachet of potpourri or a pair of chopsticks, or something of that nature.  What do I do with the sachet after it doesn't smell nice anymore??  I always feel bad tossing stuff away when the couple (uh, bride) has clearly spent lots of time thinking about the favor and assembling it.  I don't even want to think about my favors being tossed in the trash!

Weddings/banquet receptions I've most recently attended have combined the greeting of guests with wedding favors.  Basically as each group of guests (couple or family) arrives at the reception location, the bride and groom will greet them and have a picture taken with the guests by a photographer.  The pictures are printed and framed by the photographer (or whoever you designate this task to) and are ready to be picked up at the end of the night.  Neat!

If I go this route, I won't have to rally the troops (ie BMs) to assemble hundreds of favors the night before.  I think I'm going this route :P

Originally, I wanted to have our names and the date of the wedding printed directly onto the photo (a flashback to all those HS dances), but that was super pricey and time consuming.  Luckily, I'm a flexible kind of gal.  My mom suggested that our names and date be printed on the card that the picture will be pasted into.  Whoa, way easier to deal with!  High five, mom.

So the current plan is to have those "greeting photos" taken by a different photographer than the ones we booked already; I don't want to waste their talent by having them spend an hr doing simple posed shots.  Since my mom hasn't had too much to do after getting our reception place booked and the menu finalized, I asked her if she could take care of this part.

Things are looking up :)
