Honeymoon is a Stumper!

I thought it was a no-brainer. I thought it was a set deal! I thought this part would be one of the easiest and funnest parts about wedding planning. 2 week vacation with mah honey-bunny and the possibilities are endless.

We first planned on going to France and spending most of our time in Paris. Each of us had gone previously, but we'd never been to the City of Lights (let alone Europe) together.  I was in the middle of planning where we would eat and what chocolate shops and patisseries I wanted to go to (Pierre Herme and La Maison du Chocolat are but 2 of many that got on the list) and thought everything was going great.  What a romantic and fun getaway :)

Then Alfred's mom suggested that we should honeymoon in China, Canton to be exact.  I'd never been to Asia before, but always wanted to go.  A big plus would be that we wouldn't have to spend money on lodging as his parents bought a condo there.  So then I borrowed Hong Kong/Guangzhou travel guides from the library and started a new list.  When questions of how we would get around with the language barrier (Alfred's not fluent in Cantonese and I grew up speaking Teo Chou) and how we would survive during the wettest, humidest month, my researching slowed down a lot.  As CA kids, humidity is a foreign concept...the most humidity I've been exposed to was in Hawaii!  I also worried about booking early enough to avoid any price hikes for the upcoming Olympics.  I know that's in Beijing, but you never know.

Currently, we are still wondering where to spend this 2 week chunk of time.  Perhaps in an English speaking area like Australia or New Zealand?  Back to France (I can get us by pretty decently) or some other part of the EU?  We should probably choose soon.   I wish we could just pick a place and love our decision!
