The Here and Now: Honeymoon Plans!

Posted Friday, October 05, 2007 11:32 PM

In most of the posts I've typed up so far, they have been about things that I have already gotten done (and yet I'm still behind on discussing even those things!) and I haven't had time to talk about what we're up to right now in terms of wedding planning.

Good news is that we finally have a honeymoon destination and we're in the middle of planning where we want to stay, what we want to do, and of course, where we want to EAT.

Originally we wanted to go to France, as the both of us had visited Paris, but never together: he went with his sister (a BM) while on their way to England to visit relatives while I went with A (another BM!) to celebrate my liberation from college. We abandoned this plan after Alfred's mom suggested that we go to China, but that idea didn't last very long as we didn't want to be stressed out over yucky weather and a language barrier.  So all was quiet for a few weeks when Australia popped out of nowhere...and it seemed like a fantastic idea!  Alfred was originally concerned (as were a number of our friends) about the flip-flopping of weather in the Southern Hemisphere, "Won't it be all cold there??"  These fears were dashed when I looked up the average temperatures in May and they range from the mid 60s to mid 80s (depending where you are in the country)....sweet!!

And that brings us up to this week. One of the longest, exhausting weeks I can remember in recent history. Ever since starting my current job, I've become a morning person, but this week was really painful. Sure it might have something to do with going to bed at 1am or later, but late evenings are when I have time to do trip research.

I just wanted to mention that one of the things Alfred researched was for good clothes shopping, just for me!  Isn't he great? :)  He's a video-gaming type of person with very little interest in clothes and fashion, but he knows how much I complain about not finding clothes that fit me (I'm a petite-sized gal).

Food, fashion, and fun.  I'm very excited that Australia can deliver all these things!
