Receiving RSVPs in the mail

Posted Saturday, March 01, 2008 11:40 PM

I'm very excited about the RSVPs coming back to us in the mail.  Or at least, I am...sort of.  Now when I check the mailbox, after wondering if I'll get any new replies, the next thought that pops into my head is, "I wonder how many people filled it out correctly".

So the way we designed our RSVP postcard is that at the top there is the "please respond by" date.  Right below is a whole line dedicated to filling out your name.  Below that is a checkbox section for attendance at the reception and the last section is a checkbox section for ceremony attendance.

Most people (ie relatives) are leaving the ceremony section blank.  What the HELL??  After calling my mom a few times and being told that they probably weren't showing up to a ceremony (we have 2), I'm just assuming now that blank sections=not showing up.

Then you have the folks that don't fill out their name.  Thank goodness we numbered the postcards.

Yeah, about the reply cards?  they will continue to frustrate you to no end! :)  it seems that people don't like to respond by the date on the RSVP card on top of not checking information, etc.--just be prepared to make some phone calls if need be to double-check.  you certainly wouldn't want to be short chairs at the ceremony if all of those people suddenly show up!  best of luck to you!
