First Ultrasound :)

Posted Wednesday, November 04, 2009 8:52 PM

We went for our first ultrasound a week ago (at 8 weeks) just to see how the baby was progressing and to verify our due date - my due date stayed the same (June 6th) and the baby is progressing perfectly!  The baby's heartbeat was at 162 (the technician said is should be between 120 and 160 so it was great.)

So some people asked me if we cried - the answer is no (not sure what that means about us) but honestly, we were super excited when she first started putting my stomach on the screen but then she proceeded to tell us that it was just my ovaries and uterus and other stuff she had to check out first.  By the time she got to the baby, it didn't look much different than the rest of the stuff haha - although it was super exciting to see the baby's heartbeat on the screen!  It's real!!  Was basically what went through my mind!

We go back again in a few weeks for another ultrasound and blood test for some of the genetic testing they do.  She said we could possibly tell a little more at that time (hopefully a gender!!)  We are definitely all for finding out what it is - I'm a huge planner so I need to know - the next 7 months would be brutal if I didn't "know"!  Wink

I'm 9 weeks pregnant - definitely very excited Big Smile but anxiously awaiting to at least be out of the first trimester so I can relax a little - I'm feeling great right now! I had about 2 weeks of nausea all day, every day but now it's better.  I get a sharp shooting pain in my left butt cheek from time to time - from what I read it's my sciatica from my uterus growing and pushing on it - of course one of those things that no one tells you about until you get it and everyone comes out of the woodwork that they had it too!  The other problem I have is I'm completely tired all the time Sleep - I'm going to need to figure something out about that since I'm an auditor and work many hours from January through April, I don't think naps out at my clients would go over great haha - some pick me up food like almonds and such will hopefully work!

We told our immediate family and a few friends and people at work but are waiting until around Thanksgiving to make it "public" knowledge.  My mom thinks I'm crazy but I figured we should only tell those who we would tell if something went wrong - I really don't need the world knowing my business just yet Hmm
