Thinking about getting away for your wedding but intimidated by the high prices and long travel times of a tropical destination wedding? Consider heading to Memphis, Tennessee, for a destination wedding close to home. A quick 45-minute flight from Kansas City or 30-minute flight from St. Louis, Memphis is home to the luxurious Madison Hotel, a stylish boutique hotel just steps away from downtown's historic Main Street. Enjoy Southern hospitality married with European elegance at the Madison Hotel for your wedding, then your and your guests can hit the town to take in all that Memphis has to offer from the exciting music scene to a visit to Graceland or one of the many museums.

The Madison Hotel offers a gorgeous rooftop terrace with a stunning, panoramic view of the Mississippi River and Hernando de Soto Bridge. After exchanging vows on the terrace, move inside to the ballroom or mezzanine for your reception where you'll enjoy the finest cuisine from their talented chefs.

While the Madison Hotel is a gorgeous venue fit for any bride, it is especially a popular choice for second-time brides looking for a distinctive, upscale venue. The romantic rooftop terrace is perfect for smaller, more intimate affairs made up of close friends. A Royal Wedding in Branson

Posted Tuesday, August 16, 2011 3:29 PM

As a nod to the upcoming 100 year anniversary of the RMS Titanic's maiden voyage and in honor the 12 honeymooning couples on board, The Titanic Museum Attraction and Star 102.1 FM will give away their own Royal Wedding hosted on the stunning Grand Staircase. Steeped in history and romanticism, the centerpiece of the world's most famous ocean liner is exact in every detail to the one passengers walked on board the RMS Titanic.

Couples can enter online by filling out a form and submitting a video of themselves talking about their relationship and explaining why they should win the Royal Wedding. Once videos are submitted, three finalists will be selected and the public will be able to vote online in December for the favorite. One couple will win the Titanic Royal Wedding in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and another will win a Titanic Royal Wedding in Branson, Missouri. Online voters will also select the bride's gown, wedding cake and flowers for each of the weddings. The winners will be announced on January 16, 2012.

For the twelve months leading up to April 15, 2012, the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the Titanic Museum Attractions will pay respect to and honor those 2,208 passengers and crew with an on-going series of special events, activities and ceremonies bringing to life the stories of the fabled ship and its fascinating passengers.

Playing with Texture

Posted Tuesday, July 05, 2011 2:41 PM

Consider playing with textural elements when choosing your bouquet for a show-stopping arrangement. For example, it's no wonder that unusual elements like succulents, seashells and feathers are so popular right now, especially in bouquets. I'm loving the mix of textural elements in this gorgeous bouquet by Emmy-Ray Floral Design in Kansas City, MO. The soft hydrangeas and dahlias are set off by the interesting contrast of thistles and succulents, creating a unique bouquet that's sure to wow.

Carefree Romance in the Countryside

Posted Tuesday, June 28, 2011 11:28 AM

Check out this gorgeous rehearsal dinner at the Red Barn Farm in Weston, Missouri, photographed by Becca Spears of Wirken Photography. The couple started with the beautiful hillside location, complete with panoramic views of the turn-of-the-century farm, and added rustic and vintage touches for a picture-perfect look. The combination of wildflowers, mix-and-match china and woven trays serving as chargers lends an aura of carefree romance to the space. With candles in mason jars on the table and suspended from the rafters casting a soft glow, this decor would look amazing at any rehearsal dinner or reception.

Check out these day-of photos by M&C Studio taken during a Kansas City wedding. I love the bright colors behind the accessories, and the pic of the groom and groomsmen joking around made me laugh out loud.
