With the early preparations for such a big celebration come the extra drama, stress, and surfacing of family members who haven't been seen in years. Our wedding isn't until August, but the time is flying and I am glad I started as early as I did! When I have down time, I take a moment to put everything in perspective - and I've come to the conclusion that probably every other future bride has come to at one point. It is IMPERATIVE to spend MORE time preparing for marriage than preparing for some fluffy wedding. Don't get me wrong, we want our close friends and families to witness our love and committment for one another, so we're making the preparations to make that happen. But at the same time, we're making sure to invest in the future and each other first! Besides, why put all of your energy into a one-day event when half of the people attending could care less about what happens with you the day after? That's why I would like the wedding to be very simple and to the point. The real celebrations will come after 10, 15, and 30 years of holding it down! LOL!
So while preparing for the big day, I have to keep in perspective the real reason behind it all. I thank God for my future groom and that he is who he is. We're doing this not only because of love, but because we have similar goals and want to achieve a certain walk in life. We also want peace of mind! Dealing with family is a trip and if anything, it is building our patience and tolerance to deal with them (and each other). For anyone who reads this I hope they gain something from it. Happy planning!!!

I found my dress!!!!! It is so beautiful. You know, that dorky feeling that happens when you put on "the" dress does exist! Before going to the boutique I had my mind set on an all white, halter top, a-line dress, but ended up getting an ivory, sleeveless dress! I tried on two dresses that were similar to what I wanted and was ready to pick one of them, but I said "let me try on one more dress". And sure enough, it was the dress that got me all misty-eyed and emotional. I didn't want to take it off. I'm trying to find something online and in the magazines that are similar to it, but I can't find anything! As soon as I do, I'll be sure to post it. In the meantime I'm chipping away at the to-do list and I have about 30 items completed so far. I booked the photographer today and I'm starting the hunt for a dj. My main hold up is the caterer! But I know that will come through sooner than later.
Until next time!
