Crystal and Adam

I'm a HUGE movie buff -- so much so that I worked at a movie theater for three years and spent my last two Christmases working the night shift since it's the busiest day of the year.

The preparation

Anyway, I started dating a good friend of mine back in 2005. Shortly after, I knew he was the guy I wanted to marry. We had talked about it and decided that we would get married after graduating from college. I figured when the time was right, he’d officially ask me to marry him. Well, we live in Auburn, a college town about two hours away from our parents, and we go home to visit every other weekend. One weekend we went back because it was my aunt's birthday. He dropped me off at my mom's as he always did. After spending a little time visiting with my parents, he headed to his mom's house to see her, or so I thought.

A proposal straight out of a movie

That night we had plans to go visit my former coworkers and friends and to see the movie Premonition. We got to the theater and I started talking to my boss/friend before the movie started. Adam was walking around, looked at a poster kiosk, and called my name to tell me to come look. I walked around to meet him, and the poster displayed in the kiosk said, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" along with the date, our names as if we were starring in the "movie," and an unraveling movie reel with pictures of us.

The audience applauds

I couldn't believe it! I turned to look at him, and he was down on one knee presenting the exact ring I mentioned I liked. I was so surprised and shaky that I don't even remember saying anything else other than "yes," but according to him, my first words were: "Are you serious?" Everyone in the lobby started clapping and congratulating us. I got hugs from my friends and told my new fiancé I couldn't have imagined a better or more unique proposal. The poster is now framed and hanging on a wall in our office.
