Long Distance College Relationship
After seven years of dating, Justin decided it was time to marry his high school sweetheart, Abbey. After high school, Justin left Minnesota to play baseball for the Augustana Vikings in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He and Abbey had to live four and a half hours apart and for four long years.
Planning the Valentines Proposal
Justin started planning the proposal during their junior year of college and popped the question on Valentine’s Day of their senior year, right before graduation. Justin secretly asked Abbey's best friends to help him out with his proposal. He told them to take her out to dinner on Valentine's Day to Wild Onion (a place they frequently go) so she wouldn't suspect a thing. He then told her that he wouldn't be able to come home and celebrate Valentine's Day with her.
The Proposal
So Abbey's friends took her to Wild Onion and sat down for what she thought was going to be another Valentine's Day with the girls when the manager of the restaurant made an announcement. She said, “We have a special announcement for a lucky lady tonight. Will Abbey DuVal please come to the dance floor?” Abbey was completely shocked and caught off guard when she walked over to see Justin standing there. Justin made a speech, said he had one last question for her, put down the microphone, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. Abbey said YES, of course, and was joined by her family with champagne and flowers! Everything was perfect, and it was an amazing night they'll never forget.
