My fiance, Michael, and I spent a week in May in Estes Park, Colorado, for a lovely getaway. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park almost every day during that week. One day, we decided to head to Trail Ridge. It’s a winding drive all the way up to the top of a mountain, where there’s a lookout. About halfway up, the road was closed due to snow, so we stopped at the farthest pullout that we could.
We got out and walked across the bridge alongside the mountain. We stopped at the lookout point and I began taking the millions of pictures that I usually take -- the view was simply breathtaking. Michael then suggested we take a picture of us with the tripod since the background would be so gorgeous and there was no one else around (due to the closed roads) to take it for us. So he went to get the tripod out of the car, and I set it up when he got back. I set the timer, pressed the button, and ran over by him, all ready for the picture.
Michael turned, grabbed my hand, and knelt down (the shutter went off) and then he proposed! I was in complete shock and definitely caught off guard. Eventually, I got an
excited "yes" out after much awkward silence due to the initial shock. Everything was completely perfect, on his end anyway. Supposedly, he’d been carrying the ring around with him the whole time just waiting for the ideal moment to propose. He couldn't have chosen a better time or place!
