Thomas called me on a Wednesday afternoon and asked if we had any plans on Saturday. He then told me that the production company he works for asked if we were available to go on a hot air balloon ride for a pilot they were working on. The couple who was originally supposed to go canceled. He said it wasn’t a sure thing but to keep the date open.
Early Saturday morning, we drove out to the Temecula Wine Country. We went up in the balloon and were enjoying the ride and our view. As we approached the end of our ride, I looked down and saw one of the hot air balloon employees holding a sign that said, “Erika will you marry me?” I said, "Are you serious?" I was completely shocked. Thomas then got down on his knee and proposed. It was the greatest moment ever.
The best thing about his scheme was we have the whole thing on video. We had a camera on board with us and a friend of his was following us around shooting it all from the ground as well. (I didn’t know his friend was there until we landed!)
