Jency and Jimmy

Whoever said you couldn't meet your soul mate in Las Vegas?

On Sunday, May 25, 2008, a limo arrived at the hotel with flowers and champagne waiting for me. As we sipped on champagne, Jimmy was preoccupied on his phone, which of course left me a little unnerved. But all was forgotten as we reached the Rio Hotel for our dinner reservation, and we began reminiscing about the very first time we had met. The waitress told us that there would be a delay, so we headed out to the patio, the very spot where we had met at in October 2006.

We joked around and enjoyed the sights. I remember Jimmy becoming very serious and I looked at him a little worried, but before I could say anything, he was on his knee, asking me to spend the rest of our lives together. It all seemed like such a blur, and I don't remember the exact words he used, but I remember screaming, “YES! YES! YES!”

It was at this point that I saw the flashes directed at us. Jimmy had hired photographers, who I thought were random tourists.  Needless to say, we loved the camera and enjoyed having our very own paparazzi for a couple of hours.

After our photo shoot, Jimmy led me to the restaurant.  I was oblivious to where he was taking me since I was concentrating on my new-found rock. He guided me to our table, and when I looked around the table, there was Jimmy's parents, my parents, and our sisters. I couldn’t believe it. The other guests at the restaurant broke out in applause, and of course, I started crying. It turns out that after our limo had dropped us off, the driver had picked up our families, who had secretly flown in from Chicago and Toronto, and dropped them to the Rio Hotel. The entire time I was giving Jimmy a hard time, he had been on the phone trying to ensure that everything was going according to plan.

The day still seems a big blur to me; I can't believe how clueless I had been and how much effort my Jimmy had put forth to ensure that it was the biggest surprise of my life. Thank you so much for making it happen...I love you so much.
