Sandra and Mark

Mark and I had only been dating for 2 years. We both knew we were going to get married but he had not officially asked me yet. I was so anxious for it to happen that I just kept fantasizing about our wedding and where and when it would be. We have not spent a night apart in 18 months and we can barely keep a secret from each other for more than an hour so for Mark to go out and buy a ring and plan out his proposal was something I would never have imagined.

We were driving up to stay with his family on Cape Cod for a week long
vacation at the end of July. It is our favorite place to be. The night
we arrived Mark took me down to the beach across the street from his house. He told me I was going to learn how to fish. I'm not a big fish lover and it was muggy, dark and cool out but I decided I would tag along anyway.

When we got down to the beach he told me to walk up the river a little and he would cast the rod and have me reel it in. While I was walking he attached a large fake engagement ring (the napkin holder ones) to his line and threw it in the water. He had me start reeling it in, it was so heavy I thought I caught a fish! So as I was reeling it in the ring snagged on a rock in the river so I started yanking on it as if the fish was fighting me.

Next thing I know the ring came flying out of the water at me and I thought I hooked onto someone's lost toy. So he picked it up from the sand as I started laughing and said "well I was going to ask you to marry me with this" So I laughed and told him that's not a funny joke to play on me! Still thinking I caught someone's toy ring. So then he got down on one knee and asked me again if I would marry him but this time with the actual ring!! It was 100% a surprise and the best memory I'll ever have!!!
