On Friday, October 2nd, 2009, Darren started asking what time my dad usually rolls out of bed (he works night shifts). I told him around 3:30/4. Well he asked like 3 times that day. Each time I told him the same answer. I thought it was a little strange he kept asking, but never thought anything of it. Then his two friends called and said they were on their way up to Bloomington to go out to Six Strings that night and wanted to know if we would meet them for dinner. We went to Lone Star. After we got home about 8, I put Riley to bed and started working on my chemistry homework online. Darren went outside to take the dog out and I noticed he had been out for like 20 minutes or so. He came back in and I asked what took so long. He said he had been talking to his brother Clint.
I had been working on my homework for about an hour with Darren sitting next to me when Darren told me to hurry up and that he was getting tired. He got up and went to the couch. After about 10 minutes, I said I needed help with one last problem. So we finished up, and I finally looked away from the computer. I looked to the right and Darren had the black box open with a ring in it! All I said was "Oh my gosh!" and started crying. He said all that time I was on the computer, he had been kneeling on one knee and I had failed to notice due to being so engrossed in my homework!
