My fiance was scheduled to travel to Geneva, Switzerland on business. Over the Thanksgiving holiday he asked if I would join him for one week and, since I had never been there, I was thrilled and excited to go! I wasn't 100% sure I would be able to take the time off work considering the short notice but said I would put in the request.
To our delight, the time off was approved and I was off to meet Dustin in Switzerland. I arrived there on a Friday, and he picked me up from the airport as he had gone a week earlier. We stayed at a beautiful Chateau and our room overlooked a vineyard.
The next day, we took a day trip to Chamonix, France to take a tram ride up Mt. Blanc. Dustin's co-worker Brian joined us since he was also there on business. It was snowing there the entire day and it was Christmas time and winter white! The tram takes you 16,000 feet to the top of the mountain where you can take in the views of the mountain and enormous glacier! After stopping at the cafe for some soup and hot cocoa, we went back out to take in more of the mountain. We were out on a lookout ledge and Brian told Dustin and I to get together for a picture. As soon as Brian took the picture, Dustin turned to me and said he was sorry that it was so cold (-9 degrees Celsius!) up there but hoped this would make up for it.
At that moment he got down on bended knee in the snow, pulled out a ring box, and asked me to marry him! It was the most amazing surprise in the world and I of course said yes! I didn't realize until several minutes later that Brian still had the camera in his hand and had recorded the entire proposal for us!
Dustin and I have dated 5 years and he has never been much of a romantic, so you can imagine my amazement that he put together this elaborate surprise to proposal in such a romantic way. It rarely happens, but I was speechless! We have such an amazing story to remember and share for the rest of our lives! We are so excited for the day we say our "I Do's"!
