Jordan & Brandon

I was participating in an internship at Disney World for the Disney College Program during the fall of 2008. Brandon came down to visit in December. We decided to go to the Mickey's "Very Merry Christmas Party" that evening when he arrived. My college friend, Ashely, her roommate, Kristen, and Brandon's college friend, Beth, were joining in on the celebration.

Ashely and Beth had never met each other before, and it seemed they were hitting it off very well. The two were running up ahead being very giddy, chatty, and whispering to each other a lot. Beth also mentioned that she had her mom's video camera to record the "Holiday Wishes" fireworks show.

Ashely and I went out to my car to get Kristen's jacket since she was meeting the group there after work. All of a sudden, Brandon called me on my cell phone and said he just won something from the Disney Dream Squad: the opportunity to watch the fireworks in a VIP section of the area, the Rose Garden in front of Cinderella's Castle.

We watched the parade and were then escorted to the Rose Garden by a Guest Relations hostess. We had the whole grassy knoll to ourselves throughout the fireworks.

It was about 50 degrees that night, and Brandon and I were trying to stay warm by cuddling together. Toward the end of the show, he started shaking more than the usual cold shivers.

After the fireworks were over, he turned to me and asked, "Can I ask you something?" I said, "Sure," and Brandon got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!

Beth was filming the whole time with my parents' video camera, which they’d mailed to Brandon earlier in the month, while Ashely took pictures. Kristen, however, had no idea this was going on and was standing in the middle of the moment and was almost in the way of the camera shot! I said, "YES!"

Since Brandon and I are huge Disney fans, I always figured it would happen at Disney, but didn't expect it to be that night. The night was perfect, because all of us, even Brandon, were crying. Dreams really do come true at Disney! The proposal was a great start to a wonderful weekend and future life together!
