Ashley & Matt

He proposed on April 24, 2009. I was having a really bad week at my job. The worst part about the week was that my iPod Touch was stolen from my classroom by one of my students.
Matt and I were also moving into an apartment together that week -- a big, big step. I had come up with the idea to exchange "housewarming gifts," something we each wanted for the new apartment. I bought him an Xbox 360 wheel and a bottle of one of his favorite liquors.
Halfway through the week, he said he wanted to take me to The Aquarium downtown. I thought we were going for two reasons: I was having such a crappy week, and as a celebration of moving in together. Plus, I had always wanted to go on the Ferris wheel. We got there, and I made a deal to pay for the attractions if Matt paid for our dinner later. We did the Ferris wheel first, and since we were the only people on it, they stopped it at the top a few times and let us stay on it for about fifteen minutes.
When we got to the top, Matt gave me my present, which he had been carrying in a gift bag. I opened it and saw a green iPod Nano. I thought he had bought me one since mine had been stolen. Then he told me he had it engraved. I flipped it over and read the engraving, which said, "Ashley, will you marry me?" After I read it, he "knelt down" in the Ferris wheel seat (as much as he could) with a box in his hand and proposed with the ring. I said yes, of course -- and then cried. My worst week ever had turned into my best week ever!
We did a photo booth session, went on the shark train ride, and walked through the animal tour. Then we had a nice dinner, during which I could not stop staring at my ring. It was perfect!
