It's in our hands

Throughout this entire wedding-planning process, Adam and I have been playing around with tradition: we put labels on our Mickey Mouse-postcard save-the-dates, we took a pre-honeymoon to Europe, we're having two traditional witnesses and two untraditional witnesses sign our ketubbah, our ceremony music is coming from the DJ and – the most recent addition – we're planning our own bachelor/bachelorette party. That's right, we're doing it together, at the same time, and there are no strippers anywhere in sight.
We know it is a little strange to plan your own party, but all of my bridesmaids are from out of town, and two of them already ponied up big bucks for one of my showers. And none of Adam's groomsmen is in a position to plan it. Not a problem – bride and groom to the rescue.
Adam and I decided many, many months ago that we wanted to go somewhere that was very "us." It would have to be somewhere easy to get to, not hugely expensive, open to all ages and it would have to have enough things to entertain our guests.
We went back and forth on a few different locations and ultimately came to the conclusion that we shouldn't have to choose between two – we could have an evening party at Dave & Busters and a longer one the next day at one of our favorite places in the world, Disneyland.
So we put together an oh-so-fab invite and, breaking mucho traditions, sent it out to our nearest and dearest (of the right age, of course) via a combination of e-mail, facebook and myspace.
Dear friends,
Adam and Shana are gettin' hitched -- which means only one thing: it's party time! So please join us at one (or both) or the following no-host events:
When: Saturday
What's the plan: We'll be playing and eating (you eat it, you buy it) at this Chuck E' Cheese for grownups (there's a bar in the middle of the arcade). You can earn tickets for prizes, too. Feel free to challenge Adam to Gator Ball and enjoy "beat the bride" trivia (everyone against Shana).
When: Sunday
Where: Disneyland
What's the plan: Join the bride and the groom for a day you'll never forget. If you can come at 7:45 a.m., you can join us for a morning of rides (starting with Space Mountain); if you can join us at 12:30 p.m. for lunch, we'd love to see you!
We know some people will be able to attend both, others just one and still others who won't be able to make either. We just wanted the chance to kick back with our friends and make it a weekend where we don't mourn the loss of our singlehood. We'll just cherish the fact that single or married, it won't stop either of us from going place we love.
P.S.:
In a recent blog post, I talked about the game I've been playing on my phone called "My Bridezilla." Well I actually got some feedback on it:
Hello,
My name is Jeff Peters and I am with Longtail Studios. I am writing to you in reference to Shoshana's Bride-to-be blog. Longtail Studios is the developer behind the My Bridezilla by AMA game which she recently wrote about online.
I wanted to thank her for the kind words and am glad she enjoyed the title.
I also wanted to let her (and if interested, your readers) aware that you can visit Longtail Studios and My Bridezilla online at www.longtailstudios.com and www.myspace.com/mybridezilla.
