Just the one

If this heat keeps up, the San Fernando Valley can officially become the world's largest sauna. It doesn't help that I had to do laundry last night -- although now I have a new appreciation for people who have hot flashes.

Last night was all about doing things solo, something rare when one is part of a couple. I finished work, went to the drug store and made a peanut butter & jelly sandwich for dinner.

I went through my "wedding bag" -- a canvas bag filled with contact info, checklists and Anita Diamant's "New Jewish Wedding (I will be so happy when I don't have to lug this bag around anymore) and pulled out my checklist. Kippot (check), program (check), honeymoon confirmation (check)

Then I started my laundry, cracked open my logic problem book and watched a very old Olivia de Havilland movie I had recorded last week on my DVR, but hadn't gotten around to watching.

Sure you can do all those things when your fiance or husband is home, but having to explain the nuances of "Steel Magnolias" --- or why I just had to pick up that dove bar tonight -- takes some of the fun out of the experience.

Adam called and gave me a hint about the wedding gift he plans to get me (I guessed correctly). We talked about our awesome bachelor/bachelorette party last weekend at Disneyland and how he might have to fly to Baltimore next month (yes, that would be one month before the wedding) and possibly Zurich next year.

I can't wait till he comes home tonight, because as much as I love a night for one, a night for two wins that battle -- hands down. And I heard it was supposed to cool down today, too! 95 degrees ... here we come!
