Just another first: Bridesmaid

Posted Sunday, June 14, 2009 11:24 PM

I know it has been a while since I've posted to this blog, but I felt I should wait until something important enough came up.

You know that expression "always a bridesmaid, never a bride"? Well, for me, it doesn't hold water. Next year I will be a bridesmaid for the first time. Well, an "official" bridesmaid anyway (I was a pseudo bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding -- the bride didn't have a wedding party, but we stepped in with an emergency kit at the reception).

I'm also going to be an "out of town" bridesmaid (or is the term "bridesmatron", which adds a new layer of complexity to the simcha.

I'm looking forward to standing up for the bride. I will be posting my adventures on here ... and asking for insight and advice from other bridesmaids (and former bridesmaids).

Stay tuned, the party's just begun! Cool

Good luck.  I've only been a bridesmaid once (I only have 2 REALLY close gf's and only 1 is married + all cousins are younger than me and my sister is gay so I don't have the opportunity much) and it was a little stressful but a lot of fun

re: Just another first: Bridesmaid

Have fun being a first time bridesmaid!  I've been a bridesmaid a handful of times and at 28 I'm still not finished...I"m already in a wedding next year...where I'm actually going to be a first time Matron of Honor  This probalby sounds terrible but to be honest I hate being a bridesmaid or I guess in my case "bridesmatron" as you put it (I like that...hehe).  I don't know...I love my friends to death and I'm always honored they pick me to be part of their special day but I hate all the money and time that's involved.  I'd rather just go to the wedding as a normal guest and enjoy.
