Sibling Rivalry

My sister was about to get her butt kicked yesterday, by me and my family.

Her boyfriend and her were in town, along with the rest of my family, when my fiance asked me to marry him.  I knew from her reaction when we told everyone the next day that she was jealous.  And I'm not just saying it because I'm one of those girls who thinks everyone is jealous of her, but she was seriously on edge about it.  Happy, but envious, you could tell.

Anyway, I'm on the phone with my dad yesterday because the fiance and I are thinking of moving up to Kansas City and renting/buying a house with him and my mom.  Basically, I want to go back to school, we want to get out of this city, fiance needs a better job market, and my mom and I can have our horses together up there.  But that's not the story of this post...

Apparently, my sister told my mom not to tell my dad whom she did tell anyway and who then told me not to tell anyone (shesh!) that my sister's boyfriend was going to call my dad that day to ask his permission to get married!!!   Now, this wouldn't be a problem if everyone thought it was legit...  but they wanted to go to the courthouse, with no family involved, and didn't think my dad was going to completely FREAK OUT about it.  Not to mention I felt like she was rushing into it to beat me to the alter.

So my mom talked my sister out of it, because there was no way in hell my dad was going to let that happen.  He wants to at least have the family there and get dressed up and all that.  So when my sister's boyfriend called the next day it was to ask if they could get married sometime in the fall with just the family around.  I think they are planning to do a cruise or something with just us.

Then my mom calls me today to say that she was really upset with my sister not wanting to do anything big, so I need to prepare to have a really fancy wedding, haha!  She says she's been secretly watching wedding planning shows and keeping her eye on bridal store sales!!  She is really excited about this and I didn't even know, hahah!

She also said don't worry about money! :X  Fiance and I were planning on doing a 33%/33%/33% split between us and the two sets of parents, and I was thinking about $15k should do it.  But my parents are apparently set on paying for most of it and making sure it is done right.  SWEET!  And now that my sister is doing the small time thing they want at least one of their daughters to have a huge party - and guess what?!  That means me!  ;D
