Knot Name: MichiBolooki
Wedding Date: August 1, 2009
Knot Annie: What boards do you post on?
MichiBolooki: South Florida and Trash to Treasure mostly. I have to say that I love my South Florida Knotties. We’re the best!
Knot Annie: Describe your wedding.
MichiBolooki: This could take awhile! My colors are gold, pale pink, and ivory. The whole look and feel of the wedding is going to be romantic, soft, and elegant. The flowers will be white and pink orchids, white hydrangeas, white and pink roses, and some hints here and there of Queen Anne’s lace. The flowers for the centerpieces will be in tall, glass, fluted vases. The tables will have white linens, lots of candles, gold chargers, pink favor boxes with gold ribbon, gold table frames, and some pink petals spread around the base of the centerpieces. The cake will be tall and grand with flowers stuffed between each layer and a large rhinestone “B” on top.
My look will be soft and natural with my hair down and a vintage-inspired headpiece pulling one side of my hair up. I will wear a simple cathedral-length veil. My A-line dress is all lace with a strapless sweetheart neckline and a very low back with rhinestone buttons. I absolutely LOVE my dress, and it’s by far my favorite detail of the wedding. That’s basically it -- my wedding in a nutshell!
Knot Annie: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
MichiBolooki: I honestly don’t know how brides plan weddings without the help of other Knotties. My mom and I talk about that all the time. What would we have done without The Knot? Besides all of the inspirational Knottie bios, which have given me hundreds of ideas, The Knot has been the most helpful with recommendations. Knotties have given me countless vendor recommendations for every type of vendor I’d ever need (some that I didn’t even know I needed!). These recommendations have saved me so much time, money, and effort.
Another huge way Knotties have helped me is by introducing me to the world of DIY. Before I was a Knottie, I had the idea to do things like make my own garter and ring bearer pillow (with the help of my mother who sews). Now I’m making my invitations, card box, cake topper, door hangers, and much, much more! Not only do I really enjoy taking on these projects, it’s also saving me hundreds of dollars.
Knot Annie: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
MichiBolooki: This is a tough one because I have so many. But I’d have to say Mrs.M&M07 has been the most inspirational to me. She was one of the first bios I saw and loved. I absolutely loved her flowers, and they were the main inspiration for mine. I even hired her florist! I also admired the feel of her reception -- the light colors and romantic look with lots of candles. We have very similar taste and her bio just calls to me. I still glance at it on a regular basis just to admire it.
Knot Annie: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
MichiBolooki: This is also hard to answer because I haven’t gotten married yet, but I’ve had pretty great experiences with all my vendors so far. That being said, I’m choosing my wonderful photographer, Alain Martinez. From the moment we met, I felt that he HAD to be my photographer. I see his work as pieces of art, not just pictures. He has such a vision and eye, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for our wedding. Besides the fact that he’s talented, he’s also very sweet and attentive. He always answers all of my emails, some of which have been downright silly on my part, like when I asked him what color and type of car I should choose for my wedding based on the photos! No matter what the question or request, he always answers quickly and kindly.
Knot Annie: Any words of wisdom for the lurkers out there?
MichiBolooki: Stop lurking, for one! Get out there and introduce yourself. Share your planning experiences and any recommendations that you may have. If you’re just lurking, you won’t have the opportunity to build bonds with the fellow brides who are going through the same things you are. Sometimes I’d rather vent to my Knotties about wedding planning drama than my friends in real life. It’s amazing the friendships that I’ve been able to create from The Knot. I talk to my Knotties every day, and I love them! I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple end up at my wedding.
Knot Annie: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
MichiBolooki: I’m most looking forward to walking down the aisle toward Andrew. I can’t wait for that moment when we see each other for the first time. I just know that it’s going to be so special and something that we’ll cherish forever. I’m also looking forward to our vows and making it official after nine years of dating. It’s about that time!
Thanks MichiBolooki, happy planning! We’re so happy to have you as a part of The Knot Community!
