Knot Name: Spiller
Wedding Date: 11.08.08
Knot Annie: What boards do you post on?
Spiller: Mostly just Minneapolis/St. Paul, and a bit on November '08.
Knot Annie: Describe your wedding.
Spiller: The colors were olive/leaf green, black, and ivory with gold accents. I channeled a bit of old-school glamour, but really just wanted to make it a stylish, elegant event without being over-the-top or stuffy. We had a short, personal church ceremony followed by a golf club reception with about 200 guests. Large stone fireplaces and lots of flowers and candles gave the room a warm but grand look. Highlights included the Newcastle keg and plated dessert trio.
Knot Annie: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
Spiller: The Knot is an awesome source of ideas for details. I would never have done DIY pocketfold invites or an e-pic photo guestbook if I hadn't been on The Knot -- and those are two of my wedding details that probably got the most praise!
Knot Annie: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
Spiller: I wasn't much of a bio searcher, but 99VintageGlam had an awesome day-of style, and really knew how to carry the look through her details. She also had mindful choices of apparel, venue location, etc. I love Minneapolis Knottie Katematch's bio too -- her colors and inspiration were amazing. She was the Metro Area's ultimate cathedral bride!
Knot Annie: Best vendor that you've worked with and why?
Spiller: Probably my florist (though I really loved all my vendors, I swear). She was really patient with me through my many phases of "Maybe this is what I want...No, maybe this..." I even changed my colors and wedding party attire midway through planning. But she kept my vision alive with my tastes in mind and the outcome was better than I ever could've anticipated.
Knot Annie: Any words of wisdom for the lurkers out there?
Spiller: POST. Where else can you talk about wedding stuff all day without driving friends/coworkers/fiance/family members insane?! The Knot has a very specific and wonderful purpose, and you'll only gain from soliciting information or ideas.
Knot Annie: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
Spiller: On a somewhat superficial level, I confess I was really looking forward to seeing how the reception decor all came together! You spend so much time planning the thing down to every little aspect -- from when the hotel shuttle bus will start running to how many votives you want at each table -- so when all the concepts and efforts come to fruition and look amazing, it feels awesome. The next day, my parents, husband, and I kept saying, "That was awesome. I didn't want the night to end -- can we do it over and over again?"
