Knot Name: Jillers1219
Wedding Date: April 25, 2009
Knot Annie: Tell me about the Knotties on the board that you post on. Have you ever joined them for a GTG?
Jillers1219: I post on the local Austin board, and the Knotties are the most understanding and vivacious group of women. We all want to help one another have the best wedding possible. I’ve attended a few Austin GTGs, and it’s been incredible finding out the ladies are just as genuine in real life!
KA: Describe your wedding.
Jillers1219: I’ve sort of labeled it “Fun and Elegant Southern Flair.” Our colors are red and aqua with splashes of damask prints. I was raised in Iowa, but the idea of getting married at a traditional plantation-style mansion in Texas is the stuff of my girlish dreams. I adore DIY crafts and stationery, and we’ve made our own save-the-dates, guest book, decorations, and various other accessories. We want the wedding to feel elegant, but still be a relaxing and personalized day for our loved ones.
KA: How have the Knotties on your board helped you plan?
Jillers1219: They’re willing to offer opinions on things that seem frivolous to anyone but a bride, such as the background color of an invitation or the font on a save-the-date. A groom can only handle so many details before the Knotties have to take over.
KA: Favorite bio on The Knot and why?
Jillers1219: Knottie “atlantic” has been such an inspiration in cohesion and relaxation. Any time I need a boost of “how to make every element of your wedding fit together in the most beautifully comfortable way possible,” I visit Alexis’s bio. Also, Knottie “shanwalk2” had the most gorgeous wedding. I could swoon over her bio all day.
KA: Best vendor that you’ve worked with and why?
Jillers1219: Our venue, The Winfield Inn, with its coordinator, April. When we realized we needed to bring down our reception costs, April was understanding and helped us to decrease our price tag by a third. It’s comforting to know people really care about making your day both perfect and affordable.
KA: What will make your wedding stand out to your guests, and where did you find the inspiration?
Jillers1219: Less traditional parts of our wedding will probably stand out. The ceremony is outdoors, which is unlike anything our families have done before. I’m walking down the aisle to The Beatles’ “Something,” and we’re doing a sand ceremony instead of a unity candle. I think the color palette will also make for some interesting conversations! My mom’s first reaction was: “You’ve chosen what colors?!” I love the idea of making something less traditional into something classy and beautiful.
KA: What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
Jillers1219: Laughing with my husband. I’m sure he’ll make fun of me for belting out Elton John songs, but I can’t wait because it’ll be different -- it’ll be with my husband!
Thanks Jillers! I am in love with your color palette!
